Rewards

Reward of reciting Sub-h’aanallaah thrice in the morning and evening

أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی عَلِیُّ بْنُ مُوسَی عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِیِّ بْنِ الْحَکَمِ عَنْ سَیْفٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَیَابَهَ عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ عَنِ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ أَمِیرِ الْمُؤْمِنِینَ ع قَالَ: مَنْ قَالَ حِینَ یُمْسِی ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ- فَسُبْحانَ اللَّهِ حِینَ تُمْسُونَ وَ حِینَ تُصْبِحُونَ. وَ لَهُ الْحَمْدُ فِی السَّماواتِ وَ الْأَرْضِ وَ عَشِیًّا وَ حِینَ تُظْهِرُونَ لَمْ یَفُتْهُ خَیْرٌ یَکُونُ فِی تِلْکَ اللَّیْلَهِ وَ صُرِفَ عَنْهُ جَمِیعُ شَرِّهَا وَ مَنْ قَالَ مِثْلَ ذَلِکَ حِینَ یُصْبِحُ لَمْ یَفُتْهُ خَیْرٌ یَکُونُ فِی ذَلِکَ الْیَوْمِ وَ صُرِفَ عَنْهُ جَمِیعُ شَرِّهِ.

1. My father (rah) said: it was narrated to me by Ali b. Musa from Ahmad b. Muhammad from Ali b. al-Hakam from Sayf from Abdulrahman b. Sayabeh from Ibn Ishaq from al-Harith from Ameer al-Mumineen (a.s.) who said: “One who recites Fa sub- h’aanallaahi h’eena tumsoona wa h’eena tus’bih’oona wa lahul h’amdu fis samaawaati wal arz”i wa a’shiyyanw wa h’eena tuz’hiroon thrice at night has received all the rewards of that night and distanced all the mischief. One who recites it in the morning will receive all the good and kept away from all the mischief of that day.”

Reward of abstinence and piety

حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الصَّفَّارُ عَنِ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ مَعْرُوفٍ عَنْ عَلِیِّ بْنِ مَهْزِیَارَ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ بَشِیرٍ عَنْ سَیْفٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: مَنْ لَمْ یَسْتَحْیِ مِنْ طَلَبِ الْمَعَاشِ خَفَّتْ مَئُونَتُهُ وَ رَخِیَ بَالُهُ وَ نُعِّمَ عِیَالُهُ وَ مَنْ زَهِدَ فِی الدُّنْیَا أَنْبَتَ اللَّهُ الْحِکْمَهَ فِی قَلْبِهِ وَ انْطَلَقَ بِهَا لِسَانُهُ وَ بَصَّرَهُ عُیُوبَ الدُّنْیَا دَاءَهَا وَ دَوَاءَهَا وَ أَخْرَجَهُ مِنْهَا سَالِماً إِلَی دَارِ السَّلَامِ.

1. It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. al-Hassan who said it was narrated to me by Muhammad b. al-Hassan al-Saffar from al-Abbas b. Ma’ruf from Ali b. Mahziyar from Ja’far b. Basheer from Sayf from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “One who does not feel shy in earning his sustenance and meets his expenses is prosperous and has a good family. One who observes piety in the world, Allah fills his heart with wisdom, makes his tongue speak, keeps him away from worldly defects, diseases and their treatments and takes him to the ‘abode of peace’ (Daarus Salaam) safe and sound.”

Rewards

Reward of performing a good deed at the start and end of the day

أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْحِمْیَرِیُّ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِیمَ بْنِ مَهْزِیَارَ عَنْ أَخِیهِ عَلِیِّ بْنِ مَهْزِیَارَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شِمْرٍ عَنِ الْفَضْلِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ عَنْ أَبِی جَعْفَرٍ ع قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص إِنَّ الْمَلَکَ یَنْزِلُ بِصَحِیفَهٍ أَوَّلَ النَّهَارِ وَ أَوَّلَ اللَّیْلِ فَیَکْتُبُ فِیهَا عَمَلَ ابْنِ آدَمَ فَاعْمَلُوا فِی أَوَّلِهَا خَیْراً وَ فِی آخِرِهَا خَیْراً فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ یَغْفِرُ لَکُمْ فِیمَا بَیْنَ ذَلِکَ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ یَقُولُ فَاذْکُرُونِی أَذْکُرْکُمْ وَ یَقُولُ وَ لَذِکْرُ اللَّهِ أَکْبَرُ

1. Imam Muhammad Baqir (a.s.) narrates that the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) said, “Surely an angel descends carrying a scroll in the beginning of day and night and writes the deeds of men. Hence one should do good deeds in the beginning of day and night. God willing, you will be forgiven during the other times also if Allah wills, because Allah, the Mighty and Sublime says: ‘Therefore remember Me, I will remember you’. And He says: ‘and certainly the remembrance of Allah is the greatest’.”

Reward of weeping in the fear of Allah

أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِیمَ بْنِ مَهْزِیَارَ عَنْ أَخِیهِ عَلِیِّ بْنِ مَهْزِیَارَ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِی عُمَیْرٍ عَنْ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ یُونُسَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مَرْوَانَ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: مَا مِنْ شَیْ ءٍ إِلَّا وَ لَهُ کَیْلٌ وَ وَزْنٌ إِلَّا الدُّمُوعَ فَإِنَّ الْقَطْرَهَ مِنْهَا تُطْفِئُ بِحَاراً مِنْ نَارٍ وَ إِذَا اغْرَوْرَقَتِ الْعَیْنُ بِمَائِهَا لَمْ یَرْهَقْ وَجْهَهُ قَتَرٌ وَ لا ذِلَّهٌ فَإِذَا فَاضَتْ حَرَّمَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَی النَّارِ وَ لَوْ أَنَّ بَاکِیاً بَکَی فِی أُمَّهٍ لَرُحِمُوا.

1. My father (rah) said: it was narrated to me by Abdillah b. Ja’far from Ibrahim b. Mahziyar from his brother Ali b. Mahziyar from Ibn Abi ’Umayr from Mansur b. Yunis from Muhammad b. Marwan from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “There is nothing but that it has a measure and a weight except the tears. For indeed a drop of it can extinguish a sea of fire. And when ones eyes are filled with tears, his face will never see poverty or disgrace. And when tears are flowing, Allah prohibits the fire of Hell on it and even if one person is weeping the whole community is dealt with mercy (by Allah).”

حَدَّثَنِی الْحُسَیْنُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ عُبَیْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِیسَی عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ [بْنِ] الْمُغِیرَهِ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِیلَ بْنِ أَبِی زِیَادٍ عَنِ الصَّادِقِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِیهِ ع قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص طُوبَی لِصُورَهٍ نَظَرَ اللَّهُ إِلَیْهَا تَبْکِی عَلَی ذَنْبٍ مِنْ خَشْیَهِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ لَمْ یَطَّلِعْ إِلَی ذَلِکَ الذَّنْبِ غَیْرُهُ.

2. Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) narrates from his predecessors that the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) said, “Tooba (congratulations) for that face which Allah sees mercifully and that person who is weeping over his sins in fear of Allah, the Mighty and Sublime and none else is aware of this sin.”

Reward of giving preference to the pleasure of Allah over one’s desires

حَدَّثَنِی أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عَلِیِّ بْنِ مَهْزِیَارَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِی عُمَیْرٍ عَنْ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ یُونُسَ عَنْ أَبِی حَمْزَهَ الثُّمَالِیِّ عَنْ زَیْنِ الْعَابِدِینَ ع یَقُولُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ یَقُولُ وَ عِزَّتِی وَ عَظَمَتِی وَ جَلَالِی وَ بَهَائِی وَ عُلُوِّی وَ ارْتِفَاعِ مَکَانِی لَا یُؤْثِرُ عَبْدٌ هَوَایَ عَلَی هَوَاهُ إِلَّا جَعَلْتُ هَمَّهُ فِی آخِرَتِهِ وَ غِنَاهُ فِی قَلْبِهِ وَ کَفَفْتُ عَلَیْهِ صَنِیعَتَهُ وَ ضَمَّنْتُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَ الْأَرْضَ رِزْقَهُ وَ آتیه [أَتَتْهُ] الدُّنْیَا وَ هِیَ رَاغِمَهٌ.

1. It is narrated that Imam Zainul Abideen (a.s.) said that Allah, the Mighty and Sublime says, “(I swear) by My Honor, Greatness, Beauty, Strength and high-rank, one who gives preference to My pleasure over his desires I will fulfill the aim of his hereafter. I will make his heart self-sufficient, earth and heavens are guarantors of his sustenance and he will get worldly wealth even without desiring it.”

Rewards

Reward of a person whose aim is Hereafter every morning and evening

أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ وَ عَبْدِ الْعَزِیزِ بْنِ أَبِی یَعْفُورٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص مَنْ أَصْبَحَ وَ أَمْسَی وَ الْآخِرَهُ أَکْبَرُ هَمِّهِ جَعَلَ اللَّهُ لَهُ الْقَنَاعَهَ فِی قَلْبِهِ وَ جَمَعَ لَهُ أَمْرَهُ وَ لَمْ یَخْرُجْ مِنَ الدُّنْیَا حَتَّی یَسْتَکْمِلَ رِزْقَهُ وَ مَنْ أَصْبَحَ وَ أَمْسَی وَ الدُّنْیَا أَکْبَرُ هَمِّهِ جَعَلَ اللَّهُ الْفَقْرَ بَیْنَ عَیْنَیْهِ وَ شَتَّتَ عَلَیْهِ أَمْرَهُ وَ لَمْ یَنَلْ مِنَ الدُّنْیَا إِلَّا مَا قُسِّمَ لَهُ.

1. Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) narrates that the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) said, “One who has hereafter as his ultimate aim every morning and evening, Allah makes his heart self- sufficient and he will be granted worldly things. He will not pass away from this world without earning his sustenance completely. One who has this world as his aim, Allah will put hunger before his eyes and scatter his worldly affairs and he will not get anything from the world except what was ordained for him.”

Reward of doing good

حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الصَّفَّارُ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ الْوَابِشِیُّ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: إِذَا أَحْسَنَ الْعَبْدُ الْمُؤْمِنُ ضَاعَفَ اللَّهُ لَهُ عَمَلَهُ بِکُلِّ حَسَنَهٍ سَبْعَمِائَهِ ضِعْفٍ وَ ذَلِکَ قَوْلُ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَ وَ اللَّهُ یُضاعِفُ لِمَنْ یَشاءُ

1. It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. al-Hassan who said it was narrated to me by Muhammad b. al-Hassan al-Saffar from Ahmad b. Muhammad from al-Hassan b. Mahbub who said it was narrated to me by Abu Muhammad al-Wabishi from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “If a believer does good Allah multiplies each of his deed seven hundred times and it is in accordance with the saying of Allah: ‘and Allah multiplies for whom He pleases’.”18

Reward of loving, hating, granting and depriving for the sake of Allah

أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ مَالِکِ بْنِ عَطِیَّهَ عَنْ سَعِیدٍ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: مِنْ أَوْثَقِ عُرَی الْإِیمَانِ أَنْ یُحِبَّ فِی اللَّهِ وَ یُبْغِضَ فِی اللَّهِ وَ یُعْطِیَ فِی اللَّهِ وَ یَمْنَعَ فِی اللَّهِ.

1. My father (rah) said: it was narrated to me by Sa’d b. Abdillah from Ahmad b. Muhammad from al-Hassan b. Mahbub from Malik b. ’Atiyyah from Sa’eed al-A’raj from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “One of the most definite signs of belief is that one loves for the sake of Allah, hates for the sake of Allah, grants for the sake of Allah and deprives for the sake of Allah.”

Reward of being ashamed and repenting for one’s sins

حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَی بْنِ الْمُتَوَکِّلِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْحِمْیَرِیُّ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: مَا مِنْ مُؤْمِنٍ یُقَارِفُ فِی یَوْمِهِ وَ لَیْلَتِهِ أَرْبَعِینَ کَبِیرَهً فَیَقُولُ وَ هُوَ نَادِمٌ أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ الَّذِی لا إِلهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَیُّ الْقَیُّومُ- بَدِیعُ السَّماواتِ وَ الْأَرْضِ ذا [ذُو] الْجَلالِ وَ الْإِکْرامِ* وَ أَسْأَلُهُ أَنْ یُصَلِّیَ عَلَی مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ أَنْ یَتُوبَ عَلَیَّ إِلَّا غَفَرَهَا وَ لَا خَیْرَ فِیمَنْ یُقَارِفُ فِی کُلِّ یَوْمٍ أَکْثَرَ مِنْ أَرْبَعِینَ کَبِیرَهً.

1. It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. Musa b. al-Mutawakil who said it was narrated to me by Abdillah b. Ja’far al-Himyari from Ahmad b. Muhammad from al-Hassan b. Mahbub from Hisham b. Salim from some of the companions Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: Astaghfirullaahalladhee laa ilaaha illaa huwal h’ayyul qayyoomu badeeu’s samaawaati wal arz”i dhaljalaali wal ikraami wa as-aluhu any-yatooba a’lay and Allah does not forgive his sins; and there is no good in one who commits more than forty greater sins.”
