Rewards

Reward of death of a believer who is away from his home

حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِیٍّ مَاجِیلَوَیْهِ عَنْ عَمِّهِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِی الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مَارِدٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: مَا مِنْ مُؤْمِنٍ یَمُوتُ فِی غُرْبَهٍ مِنَ الْأَرْضِ تَغِیبُ فِیهَا بَوَاکِیهِ إِلَّا بَکَتْهُ بِقَاعُ الْأَرَضِینَ الَّذِی کَانَ یَتَعَبَّدُ اللَّهَ فِیهَا وَ بَکَتْهُ أَبْوَابُهُ وَ بَکَتْهُ أَبْوَابُ السَّمَاءِ الَّتِی کَانَ یَصْعَدُ فِیهَا عَمَلُهُ وَ بَکَاهُ الْمَلَکَانِ الْمُوَکَّلَانِ بِهِ.

1. It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. Ali Majluwayh from his uncle Muhammad b. Abi al-Qasim from Ahmad b. Abi Abdillah from al-Hassan b. Mahbub from Muhammad b. Marid from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “No believer passes away while he is away from his home having no one to weep over him except that the parts of the earth where he used to worship and the clothes, which he used to wear will weep for him. All those doors of heaven weep for him, from which his deeds used to go up and the angels appointed on him will weep for him.”

Reward of a disbeliever who does good to a believer

أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی الْهَیْثَمُ بْنُ أَبِی مَسْرُوقٍ النَّهْدِیُّ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ عَلِیِّ بْنِ یَقْطِینٍ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ مُوسَی بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ع إِنَّهُ کَانَ فِی بَنِی إِسْرَائِیلَ رَجُلٌ مُؤْمِنٌ وَ کَانَ لَهُ جَارٌ کَافِرٌ وَ کَانَ یَرْفُقُ بِالْمُؤْمِنِ وَ یُوَلِّیهِ الْمَعْرُوفَ فِی الدُّنْیَا فَلَمَّا أَنْ مَاتَ الْکَافِرُ بَنَی اللَّهُ لَهُ بَیْتاً فِی النَّارِ مِنْ طِینٍ فَکَانَ یَقِیهِ حَرَّهَا وَ یَأْتِیهِ الرِّزْقُ مِنْ غَیْرِهَا وَ قِیلَ لَهُ هَذَا بِمَا کُنْتَ تَدْخُلُ عَلَی جَارِکَ الْمُؤْمِنِ فُلَانِ بْنِ فُلَانٍ مِنَ الرِّفْقِ وَ تُوَلِّیهِ مِنَ الْمَعْرُوفِ فِی الدُّنْیَا.

1. Imam Musa Kadhim (a.s.) said, “A believer of Bani Israel had a neighbor who was an infidel and he used to behave very well with the believer and performed good deeds in the world. When the infidel died, Allah built for him a house of mud in Hell which protected him from its heat and provided him sustenance from elsewhere. He was told, ‘You are getting these comforts because of your nice behavior with your so and so believing neighbor and doing good in the world’.”

Reward of doing good to a believing brother

حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الصَّفَّارُ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ جَمِیلٍ عَنْ حَدِیدٍ أَوْ مُرَازِمٍ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع أَیُّمَا مُؤْمِنٍ أَوْصَلَ إِلَی أَخِیهِ الْمُؤْمِنِ مَعْرُوفاً فَقَدْ أَوْصَلَ ذَلِکَ إِلَی رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص.

1. Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.), “One who does good to his believing brother is like one who does good to the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.s.).”

Rewards

Reward of rearing goat/sheep for milk

حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِیٍّ مَاجِیلَوَیْهِ عَنْ عَمِّهِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِی الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مَارِدٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع یَقُولُ مَا مِنْ مُؤْمِنٍ یَکُونُ فِی مَنْزِلِهِ عَنْزٌ حَلُوبٌ إِلَّا قُدِّسَ أَهْلُ ذَلِکَ الْمَنْزِلِ وَ بُورِکَ عَلَیْهِمْ وَ إِنْ کَانَتِ اثْنَتَیْنِ قُدِّسُوا وَ بُورِکَ عَلَیْهِمْ کُلَّ یَوْمٍ مَرَّتَیْنِ وَ قَالَ بَعْضُ أَصْحَابِنَا وَ کَیْفَ یُقَدَّسُونَ قَالَ یَقِفُ عَلَیْهِمْ مَلَکٌ کُلَّ صَبَاحٍ وَ مَسَاءٍ فَیَقُولُ قُدِّسْتُمْ وَ بُورِکَ عَلَیْکُمْ وَ طِبْتُمْ وَ طَابَ إِدَامُکُمْ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ مَا مَعْنَی قُدِّسْتُمْ قَالَ طُهِّرْتُمْ.

1. It is narrated that Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) said, “No believer has a milching animal in his home but that the people of that house will be made holy and they would be congratulated. If he has two goats they will be made holy and given glad-tidings twice everyday.” Some companions asked, “How will he be made holy?” The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) answered, “An angel will stand near them every morning and evening and say: ‘You have become holy and are congratulated. You have become pure and your food too.” I asked, “What does ‘You have become holy’ means?” He replied, “You have become pure.”

Reward of Salaat, Zakat, doing good and Patience

أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَرْحُومٍ عَنِ ابْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: إِذَا دَخَلَ الْمُؤْمِنُ من قَبْرَهُ کَانَتِ الصَّلَاهُ عَنْ یَمِینِهِ وَ الزَّکَاهُ عَنْ یَسَارِهِ وَ الْبِرُّ مُظِلٌّ عَلَیْهِ وَ ینتحی [یَتَنَحَّی] الصَّبْرُ نَاحِیَهً قَالَ فَإِذَا دَخَلَ عَلَیْهِ الْمَلَکَانِ اللَّذَانِ یَلِیَانِ مُسَاءَلَتَهُ قَالَ الصَّبْرُ لِلصَّلَاهِ وَ الزَّکَاهِ وَ الْبِرِّ دُونَکُمْ صَاحِبَکُمْ فَإِنْ عَجَزْتُمْ عَنْهُ فَإِنَّا دُونَهُ.

1. My father (rah) said: it was narrated to me by Sa’d b. Abdillah from Ahmad b. Muhammad from al-Hassan b. Mahbub from Abdillah b. Marhum from Ibn Sinan from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “When a believer enters his grave, the Salaat is to his right and Zakat to his left. Good deeds shade him and patience stands at one end. When the two angels enter to question him, Patience tells Salaat, Zakat and good deeds: ‘Protect your friend. If you fail to do so, I will protect him.”

Rewards

Reward of loving the progeny of Muhammad (s.a.w.s.) and hating their enemies for the sake of Allah

أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ یَحْیَی عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ سَهْلٍ الْمَدَائِنِیِّ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: مَنْ أَحَبَّنَا وَ أَبْغَضَ عَدُوَّنَا فِی اللَّهِ مِنْ غَیْرِ وَتِیرَهٍ وَتَرَهَا إِیَّاهُ لِشَیْ ءٍ مِنْ أَمْرِ الدُّنْیَا ثُمَّ مَاتَ عَلَی ذَلِکَ وَ عَلَیْهِ مِنَ الذُّنُوبِ مِثْلُ زَبَدِ الْبَحْرِ غَفَرَهَا اللَّهُ لَهُ.

1. My father (rah) said: it was narrated to me by Muhammad b. Yahya from Ahmad b. Muhammad from al-Hassan b. Mahbub from Salih b. Sahl al-Madaini from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “If one loves us and hates our enemies for the sake of Allah and dies even after having committed sins equal to the drops of water of the sea then too Allah will forgive him.”

Reward of reciting Astaghfirullaah seventy times in Salaat-e-Witr for one year

حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِیسَی عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ یَزِیدَ وَ لَا أَعْلَمُهُ إِلَّا عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: مَنْ قَالَ فِی وَتْرِهِ إِذَا أَوْتَرَ- أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ وَ أَتُوبُ إِلَیْهِ سَبْعِینَ مَرَّهً وَ هُوَ قَائِمٌ فَوَاظَبَ عَلَی ذَلِکَ حَتَّی مَضَی لَهُ سَنَهٌ کَتَبَهُ اللَّهُ عِنْدَهُ مِنَ الْمُسْتَغْفِرِینَ بِالْأَسْحارِ وَ وَجَبَتْ لَهُ الْمَغْفِرَهُ مِنَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ.

1. It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. Muhammad from his father from Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Isa from al-Hassan b. Mahbub from Umar b. Yazid and I do not know it except from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “One who recites Astaghfirullaaha wa atoobu ilaih seventy times in Salaat-e- Witr for one year the Almighty Allah will write him among those who repent at dawn and it will become obligatory on Allah, the Mighty and Sublime to forgive him.”

Reward of saluting a believing brother for the sake of Allah

أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ أَبِی جَمِیلَهَ عَنْ أَبِی جَعْفَرٍ الْبَاقِرِ ع قَالَ: إِنَّ مَلَکاً مِنَ الْمَلَائِکَهِ مَرَّ بِرَجُلٍ قَائِمٍ عَلَی بَابِ دَارٍ فَقَالَ لَهُ الْمَلَکُ یَا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ مَا وُقُوفُکَ عَلَی بَابِ هَذِهِ الدَّارِ قَالَ فَقَالَ لَهُ أَخٌ لِی فِیهَا أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أُسَلِّمَ عَلَیْهِ فَقَالَ لَهُ الْمَلَکُ هَلْ بَیْنَکَ وَ بَیْنَهُ رَحِمٌ مَاسَّهٌ أَوْ هَلْ تُرَغِّبُکَ إِلَیْهِ حَاجَهٌ قَالَ فَقَالَ لَا [مَا] بَیْنِی وَ بَیْنَهُ قَرَابَهٌ وَ لَا یُرَغِّبُنِی إِلَیْهِ حَاجَهٌ إِلَّا أُخُوَّهُ الْإِسْلَامِ وَ حُرْمَتُهُ فَإِنَّمَا أَتَعَهَّدُهُ أُسَلِّمُ عَلَیْهِ فِی اللَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِینَ فَقَالَ لَهُ الْمَلَکُ إِنِّی رَسُولُ اللَّهِ إِلَیْکَ وَ هُوَ یُقْرِئُکَ السَّلَامَ وَ یَقُولُ إِنَّمَا إِیَّایَ أَرَدْتَ وَ تَعَاهَدْتَ وَ قَدْ أَوْجَبْتُ لَکَ الْجَنَّهَ وَ أَعْفَیْتُکَ مِنْ غَضَبِی وَ أَجَرْتُکَ مِنَ النَّارِ.

1. My father (rah) said: it was narrated to me by Sa’d b. Abdillah from Ahmad b. Muhammad from al-Hassan b. Mahbub from Abi Jameela from Abi Ja’far al-Baqir (a.s.) who said: "that an angel passed by a person standing near a door. The angel asked him, “O servant of Allah! Why are you standing here?” He replied, “One of my believing brothers lives here. I want to salute him.” The angel asked, “Is he your near relative or you are having some work with him?” He replied, “He is neither a near relative of mine nor do I have any work with him. He is just a Muslim brother for me and hence, I have come to pay respect to him. I have made it obligatory on myself to salute him for the sake of pleasure of the Lord of the worlds.” The angel said, “Allah has sent me to you to convey His salutations and has said: Your only aim was to please Me and you met Me. I have made Paradise obligatory for you, given you salvation from My anger so that you are granted freedom from the fire of Hell."

Reward of doing Taubah Nasooh

أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِدْرِیسَ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ مُعَاوِیَهَ بْنِ وَهْبٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع یَقُولُ إِذَا تَابَ الْعَبْدُ الْمُؤْمِنُ تَوْبَهً نَصُوحاً أَحَبَّهُ اللَّهُ فَسَتَرَ عَلَیْهِ فِی الدُّنْیَا وَ الْآخِرَهِ قُلْتُ وَ کَیْفَ یَسْتُرُ عَلَیْهِ قَالَ یُنْسِی مَلَکَیْهِ مَا کَتَبَا عَلَیْهِ مِنَ الذُّنُوبِ وَ أَوْحَی اللَّهُ إِلَی جَوَارِحِهِ اکْتُمِی عَلَیْهِ ذُنُوبَهُ وَ أَوْحَی إِلَی بِقَاعِ الْأَرْضِ اکْتُمِی عَلَیْهِ مَا کَانَ یَعْمَلُ عَلَیْکِ مِنَ الذُّنُوبِ فَیَلْقَی اللَّهَ حِینَ یَلْقَاهُ وَ لَیْسَ شَیْ ءٌ یَشْهَدُ عَلَیْهِ بِالذُّنُوبِ.

1. My father (rah) said: it was narrated to me by Ahmad b. Idris from Ahmad b. Muhammad from al-Hassan b. Mahbub from Muawiyah b. Wahab who said: “When a person does Taubah Nasooh, Allah loves him; and his sins of this world and hereafter are concealed.” The narrator asked, “How does Allah conceal all his sins?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “He makes the two angels who write deeds forget those sins and orders the parts of his body to keep the sins hidden. All the parts of the earth where he has committed sins are ordered to hide his sins. Hence when that person comes in the presence of Allah, nothing in this universe will testify to even the smallest of his sins.”

Rewards

Reward of not having expectations, good character, soft behavior and simple nature

أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَیْنِ بْنِ أَبِی الْخَطَّابِ عَنِ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ مَعْرُوفٍ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص أَ لَا أُخْبِرُکُمْ بِمَنْ تَحْرُمُ عَلَیْهِ النَّارُ غَداً قَالُوا بَلَی یَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ الْهَیِّنُ الْقَرِیبُ اللَّیِّنُ السَّهْلُ.

1. My father (rah) said: it was narrated to me by Sa’d b. Abdillah from Muhammad b. al-Hussain b. Abi al-Khattab from al-Abbas b. Ma’ruf from Sa’d b. Muslim from Abdillah b. Sinan from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “The Messenger of Allah (sw) said: 'Shall I not inform you about the one whom the Fire will be forbidden for him tomorrow?' They said: 'Yes, oh Messenger of Allah!' He said: 'The one who does not expect, has good character, soft behavior and simple nature.'”
