Reward of going to mosque after performing ablution
أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَیْنِ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ عَنْ کُلَیْبٍ الصَّیْدَاوِیِّ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: مَکْتُوبٌ فِی التَّوْرَاهِ أَنَّ بُیُوتِی فِی الْأَرْضِ الْمَسَاجِدُ فَطُوبَی لِمَنْ تَطَهَّرَ فِی بَیْتِهِ ثُمَّ زَارَنِی وَ حَقٌّ عَلَی الْمَزُورِ أَنْ یُکْرِمَ الزَّائِرَ.
1. My father (rah) said: it was narrated to me by Abdillah b. Ja’far from Muhammad b. al-Hussain from Safwan from Kulayb al-Saydawi from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “It is written in the Old Testament: ‘My houses on earth are mosques. A slave of Mine who performs ablution in his house and come to My house for meeting Me shall have Tooba (a good fortune). Know that it is necessary for the host to honor his guest.”
حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ الصَّفَّارِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِیسَی عَنِ الْحُسَیْنِ بْنِ جَبَلَهَ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ سُلَیْمَانَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ أَبِیهِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص قَالَ اللَّهُ تَبَارَکَ وَ تَعَالَی أَلَا إِنَّ بُیُوتِی فِی الْأَرْضِ الْمَسَاجِدُ تُضِی ءُ لِأَهْلِ السَّمَاءِ کَمَا تُضِی ءُ النُّجُومُ لِأَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ أَلَا طُوبَی لِمَنْ کَانَتِ الْمَسَاجِدُ بُیُوتَهُ أَلَا طُوبَی لِعَبْدٍ تَوَضَّأَ فِی بَیْتِهِ ثُمَّ زَارَنِی فِی بَیْتِی أَلَا إِنَّ عَلَی الْمَزُورِ کَرَامَهَ الزَّائِرِ أَلَا بَشِّرِ الْمَشَّاءِینَ فِی الظُّلُمَاتِ إِلَی الْمَسَاجِدِ بِالنُّورِ السَّاطِعِ یَوْمَ الْقِیَامَهِ.
2. The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) says, “Know that Allah says, ‘My houses on the earth are mosques. As stars provide light to the people on earth mosques do to the people on heaven. Know that those people have Tooba (good fortune) whose houses are mosques. Also know that a slave of Mine who performs ablution in his house and come to My house for meeting Me shall have Tooba (good fortune). Know that it is necessary for the host to honor his guest. Know that there are glad tidings of bright light on the Day of Judgment for one who visits the mosque in darkness.
أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِیلَ عَنْ عَلِیِّ بْنِ الْحَکَمِ عَنْ سَیْفِ بْنِ عَمِیرَهَ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ ظَرِیفٍ عَنِ الْأَصْبَغِ بْنِ نُبَاتَهَ قَالَ قَالَ أَمِیرُ الْمُؤْمِنِینَ ع إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ لَیَهُمُّ بِعَذَابِ أَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ جَمِیعاً لَا یُحَاشِی مِنْهُمْ أَحَداً إِذَا عَمِلُوا بِالْمَعَاصِی وَ اجْتَرَحُوا السَّیِّئَاتِ فَإِذَا نَظَرَ إِلَی الشِّیبِ نَاقِلِی أَقْدَامِهِمْ إِلَی الصَّلَاهِ وَ الْوِلْدَانِ یَتَعَلَّمُونَ الْقُرْآنَ رَحِمَهُمْ فَأَخَّرَ ذَلِکَ عَنْهُمْ.
3. Amirul Momineen (a.s.) says, “Whenever people of the earth commit sins or get involved in wrong deeds, the Almighty Allah intends to send down His chastisement on the people of the world. However when He sees elderly people praying and young children learning Quran, He feels pity on them and does not send down His chastisement.”

Reward of offering five times’ prayers on prime time
أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِیسَی عَنِ الْحُسَیْنِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِی عُمَیْرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَجَّاجِ عَنْ أَبَانِ بْنِ تَغْلِبَ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع یَا أَبَانُ هَذِهِ الصَّلَوَاتُ الْخَمْسُ الْمَفْرُوضَاتُ مَنْ أَقَامَهُنَّ وَ حَافَظَ عَلَی مَوَاقِیتِهِنَّ لَقِیَ اللَّهَ یَوْمَ الْقِیَامَهِ وَ لَهُ عِنْدَهُ عَهْدٌ یُدْخِلُهُ بِهِ الْجَنَّهَ وَ مَنْ لَمْ یُصَلِّهِنَّ لِمَوَاقِیتِهِنَّ فَذَلِکَ إِلَیْهِ إِنْ شَاءَ غَفَرَ لَهُ وَ إِنْ شَاءَ عَذَّبَهُ.
1. Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) says, “O Abaan! One who offers obligatory prayers five times and that too on prime time, he will go to Allah with an assurance on the Day of Judgment and Allah would make him enter Paradise. And for a person who did not offer prayers on time, Allah has choice whether to punish him or forgive him.”
وَ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ عَنِ الْحُسَیْنِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِی عُمَیْرٍ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِیلَ الْبَصْرِیِّ عَنِ الْفَضْلِ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص الْمَسْجِدَ وَ فِیهِ نَاسٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ قَالَ تَدْرُونَ مَا قَالَ رَبُّکُمْ قَالُوا اللَّهُ وَ رَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ إِنَّ رَبَّکُمْ یَقُولُ هَذِهِ الصَّلَوَاتُ الْخَمْسُ الْمَفْرُوضَاتُ فَمَنْ صَلَّاهُنَّ لِوَقْتِهِنَّ وَ حَافَظَ عَلَیْهِنَّ لَقِیَنِی یَوْمَ الْقِیَامَهِ وَ لَهُ عِنْدِی عَهْدٌ أُدْخِلُهُ بِهِ الْجَنَّهَ وَ مَنْ لَمْ یُصَلِّهِنَّ لِوَقْتِهِنَّ وَ لَمْ یُحَافِظْ عَلَیْهِنَّ فَذَلِکَ إِلَیَّ إِنْ شِئْتُ عَذَّبْتُهُ وَ إِنْ شِئْتُ غَفَرْتُ لَهُ.
2. And from the previous chain from al-Hussain b. Sa’d from Ibn Abi ’Umayr from Ismail al-Basri from al-Fadhl from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “Messenger of Allah (sw) entered the mosque where his companions were gathered. He questioned them, 'Are you familiar with what your Lord has stated?' They replied, 'Allah and His Messenger know best.' He then said, 'Verily, your Lord has stated: 'One who offers obligatory prayers five times and that too on prime time, he will come to Me with an assurance on the Day of Judgment and I would make him enter Paradise. And for a person who did not offer prayers on time, I have choice whether to punish him or forgive him’.”'

Reward of Nafila prayers
أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ الْوَاسِطِیِّ النَّحَّاسِ عَنْ مُوسَی بْنِ بَکْرٍ عَنْ أَبِی الْحَسَنِ ع قَالَ: صَلَاهُ النَّوَافِلِ قُرْبَانُ کُلِّ مُؤْمِنٍ.
1. My father (rah) said: it was narrated to me by Sa’d b. Abdillah from Ahmad b. Abi Abdillah from al-Hassan b. Mahbub from al-Hassan al-Wasiti al-Nahhas from Musa b. Bakr from Abi al-Hassan (a.s.) who said: “Nafila prayers are always near to a believer.”

Reward of lighting a lamp in the mosque
حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِیِّ بْنِ مَاجِیلَوَیْهِ ره عَنْ عَمِّهِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِی الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ أَبِی مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِیٍّ الصَّیْرَفِیِّ عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ شکر [یَشْکُرَ] الْبَاهِلِیِّ عَنِ الْکَاهِلِیِّ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص مَنْ أَسْرَجَ فِی مَسْجِدٍ مِنْ مَسَاجِدِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ سِرَاجاً لَمْ تَزَلِ الْمَلَائِکَهُ وَ حَمَلَهُ الْعَرْشِ یَسْتَغْفِرُونَ لَهُ مَا دَامَ فِی ذَلِکَ الْمَسْجِدِ ضَوْءٌ مِنَ السِّرَاجِ.
1. The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) says, “One who lights a lamp in the mosque of Allah the people of heaven and Allah’s angels seek repentance for that person till the time that lamp is on in the mosque.”
Rewards
Reward of retaining spit in the mouth during Salaat
أَبِی ره عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِیِّ بْنِ حَسَّانَ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ دَارَهَ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: مَنْ حَبَسَ رِیقَهُ إِجْلَالًا لِلَّهِ تَعَالَی فِی صَلَاتِهِ أَوْرَثَهُ اللَّهُ صِحَّهً حَتَّی الْمَمَاتِ.
1. My father (rah) from Sa’d b. Abdillah from Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Ali b. Ahmad from Sahl b. Darihi from his father from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “One who retains his saliva during Salat out of respect of Allah’s Majesty and His Honor, Allah keeps him healthy till his death.”

Reward of offering prayer in Masjidul Haraam
أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی عَلِیُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِیمَ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ عَلِیِّ بْنِ مَعْبَدٍ عَنِ الْحُسَیْنِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ أَبِی الْحَسَنِ الرِّضَا عَنْ آبَائِهِ ع قَالَ قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِیٍّ الْبَاقِرُ ع صَلَاهٌ فِی الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ أَفْضَلُ مِنْ مِائَهِ أَلْفِ صَلَاهٍ فِی غَیْرِهِ مِنَ الْمَسَاجِدِ.
1. Imam Ridha (a.s.) narrates from his predecessors that the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) said, “The reward of a Salaat offered in Masjidul Haraam is more than the reward of a hundred thousand prayers offered in some other mosque.”

Reward of offering Prayer in Masjidun Nabawi
أَبِی ره عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ هَارُونَ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ مَسْعَدَهَ بْنِ صَدَقَهَ عَنِ الصَّادِقِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ آبَائِهِ ع قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص صَلَاهٌ فِی مَسْجِدِی تَعْدِلُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ عَشَرَهَ آلَافِ صَلَاهٍ فِی غَیْرِهِ مِنَ الْمَسَاجِدِ إِلَّا الْمَسْجِدَ الْحَرَامَ فَإِنَّ الصَّلَاهَ فِیهِ تَعْدِلُ مِائَهَ أَلْفِ صَلَاهٍ.
1. Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) narrates from his ancestors that the Holy Prophet (sw) said, “The reward of offering a Prayer in Masjidun Nabawi is equal to the reward of ten thousand Prayers offered in any other mosque except the Prayer offered in Masjidul Haraam whose reward is equal to the reward of a hundred thousand Prayers offered in another mosque.”
