4. Muḥammad ibn Ḥasan narrated to me from Muḥammad ibn Ḥasan Al-Saffār, from Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn ‘Isā, from Ḥasan ibn ‘Ali ibn Faďďāl, from Mufaďďal ibn Sāliḥ, from Muḥammad ibn ‘Ali Al-Ḥalabi, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: Verily Allāh offered our Wilāyah to the inhabitants of different lands but no one accepted it (immediately) except the inhabitants of Kūfah. Verily there is a grave near it to which no anguished person goes and next to which he prays four Rak’ah without Allāh sending him back pleased, with his requests fulfilled.

5. Ḥasan ibn ‘Abdillāh ibn Muḥammad ibn ‘Isā narrated to me from his father, from Ḥasan ibn Maḥbūb, from ‘Alā ibn Razīn, from Muḥammad ibn Muslim, who said: Abū Ja’far (Imam Bāqir (a.s.)) said: Verily Ḥusain (a.s.), the man of Karbalā, was killed while he was oppressed, anguished, thirsty, and grieved. It is truly fitting that every grieved person, every anguished person, every sinful person, every saddened person, every thirsty person, and every ill person who goes to (the Ziyārah of) Ḥusain (a.s.), who prays next to his grave and seeks nearness to Allāh, the Great and Almighty, through him, will have his grief removed by Allāh and He will fulfill his requests, forgive his sins, prolong his life, and increase his sustenance. “So take warning, O you who have eyes!” (59:2).

6. My father, Muḥammad ibn Ḥasan and all of my scholars narrated to me from Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyā, and from Aḥmad ibn Idrīs, from ‘Amraki, from Yaḥyā – who was the servant of Abī Ja’far (Imam Jawād (a.s.)), from some of our companions, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: Verily there is a grave on the outskirts of Kūfah – referring to the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.) – to which no anguished person goes without Allāh relieving him of his anguish.

7. Muḥammad ibn Ja’far narrated to me from Muḥammad ibn Ḥusain ibn Abil Khaťťāb, from Muḥammad ibn Nājiyah, from ‘Āmir ibn Kuthayr, from Abil Numayr, who said: Abū Ja’far (Imam Bāqir (a.s.)) said: Verily our Wilāyah was offered to the inhabitants of different lands but no one accepted it as well as the inhabitants of Kūfah did, and this is because the grave of ‘Ali (a.s.) is located in it. Verily there is another grave close to the grave of the Commander of the Believers (a.s.) – referring to the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.) – to which no one comes, and next to which he prays two or four Rak’ah, and asks Allāh for his needs without Allāh granting it. Verily one thousand angels circulate this grave everyday.

8. Abul ‘Abbās Al-Kūfi narrated to me from Muḥammad ibn Ḥusain, from Safwān, from Walīd ibn Ḥassān, from Ibn Abī Ya’fūr, who said: I said to Abī ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)), “My yearning for seeing you has made me endure the difficulties of traveling to you.” Imam (a.s.) replied, “Do not complain (about this) to your Lord! Why do you not go to the one to whom you have more obligation than you have to me?!” Hearing that there was someone to whom I have more obligation than I have toward him was more difficult for me to handle than hearing him say, “Do not complain (about this) to your Lord.” So I asked, “Toward whom do I have more obligation than I have toward you?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “Ḥusain ibn ‘Ali (a.s.). Why do you not go to Ḥusain (a.s.) and invoke Allāh next to his grave and complain to Allāh about your needs?!”

9. Ḥukaym ibn Dāwūd ibn Ḥukaym narrated to me from Salamah ibn Khaťťāb, from Ibrāhīm ibn Muḥammad, from ‘Ali ibn Mu’allā, from Isḥāq ibn Ziyād, who said: A man came to Abī ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) and said, “I have sold all of my belongings and properties and I am thinking of moving to Makkah.” Imam (a.s.) said, “Do not do that because the people of Makkah disbelieve in Allāh publicly.” The man asked, “What about the city of the Messenger of Allāh (s.a.a.w.) (Madīnah)?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “The people there are even worse than the people of Makkah.” The man asked, “Then where should I move to?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “Go to Kūfah in Iraq, for verily the blessings of that land span a twelve mile radius and there is a grave in its proximity which is not visited by any anguished and grieved person without Allāh relieving him from his anguish and grief.”

1. Muḥammad ibn Ja’far Al-Qurashi Al-Razzāz Al-Kūfi narrated to me from his uncle Muḥammad ibn Ḥusain ibn Abil Khaťťāb, from Muḥammad ibn Ismā’īl, from Sāliḥ ibn ‘Uqbah, from Bashīr Al-Dahhān, who said: I said to Abī ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)), “Sometimes I miss (the opportunity to go to) Hajj so I go and spend the Day of ‘Arafah next to the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.) instead.” Imam (a.s.) said: Well done, O Bashīr! Verily Allāh will register twenty purified and accepted Hajj, twenty purified and accepted ‘Umrah, and the reward of (fighting in) twenty battles with one of Allāh’s messengers or with a Just Imam for any believer who goes to (the Ziyārah of) the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.) knowing his rights on any day other than an Eid. Allāh will register one hundred Hajj and ‘Umrah and the reward of (fighting in) one hundred battles with one of Allāh’s messengers or with a Just Imam for anyone who goes to him (Imam Ḥusain (a.s.)) on any Eid day. Allāh will register one thousand accepted Hajj and ‘Umrah and the reward of (fighting in) one thousand battles with one of Allāh’s messengers or with a Just Imam for anyone who goes to him (Imam Ḥusain (a.s.)) on the Day of ‘Arafah knowing his rights. I said, “But how can I be anywhere better than ‘Arafāt on the day of ‘Arafah?” Imam (a.s.) looked at me angrily and said, “O Bashīr! When a believer goes to the Ziyārah of the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.) on the Day of ‘Arafah after performing Ghusl with the water of the Euphrates (River), Allāh will register one (complete) Hajj with all of its rituals for him with every step that he takes.” Bashīr added, “I believe that the Imam (a.s.) also mentioned (that Allāh will register the reward of participating in) a battle.”

2. My father, ‘Ali ibn Ḥusain, and Muḥammad ibn Ḥasan all narrated to me from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from ‘Ali ibn Ismā’īl ibn ‘Isā, from Muḥammad ibn ‘Amr ibn Sa’īd Al-Zayyāt, from Dāwūd Al-Raqqi, who said: I heard Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)), Abal Ḥasan Mūsā (Imam Kāżim (a.s.)), and Abal Ḥasan (Imam Riďā (a.s.)) say: Allāh will make those who go to (the Ziyārah of) the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.) on the Day of ‘Arafah return with hearts filled with certainty.

3. My father, ‘Ali ibn Ḥusain, and Muḥammad ibn Ḥasan all narrated to me from Sa’d (ibn ‘Abdillāh), from Haytham ibn Abī Masrūq Al-Nahdi, from ‘Ali ibn Asbāť, from some of our companions, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said, “On the eve of ‘Arafah, Allāh, the Blessed and the Exalted, looks at the Zuwwār of the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.) first.” I asked, “Even before looking at the people who are in ‘Arafāt?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “Yes.” I asked, “Why is that?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “Because there are people who are conceived illegitimately among those who are in ‘Arafāt but there are not any illegitimately conceived people among the Zuwwār of Ḥusain (a.s.).”

4. My father narrated to me from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Mūsā ibn ‘Umar, from ‘Ali ibn Nu’mān, from ‘Abdillāh ibn Muskān, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: Verily (on the Day of ‘Arafah), Allāh, the Blessed and the Exalted, manifests (His Mercy) to the Zuwwār of the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.) before He does (so) to the people who are in ‘Arafāt. He fulfils their needs, forgives their sins, and accepts their intercession for their requests, and thereafter He attends to the people in ‘Arafāt and honours them in the same way.
