The Reward for the Ziyārah of Ĥusain (a.s.) on the Day of ‘Arafah
5. My father and all of my scholars narrated to me from Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyā Al-‘Aťťār, from Abī Sa’īd Ḥamdān ibn Sulaymān Al-Naysābūri, from ‘Abdillāh ibn Muḥammad Al-Yamāni, from Manī’ ibn Ḥajjāj, from Yūnus ibn Ya’qūb ibn ‘Ammār, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: Those who miss (the opportunity of) spending the Day of ‘Arafah in ‘Arafāt, but instead spend that day next to the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.), have not missed it. Verily (on the Day of ‘Arafah), Allāh, the Blessed and the Exalted, starts with the people who are next to the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.) before the people who are in ‘Arafāt and then He mixes them with Himself.
6. My father and ‘Ali ibn Ḥusain both narrated to me from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn ‘Isā, from Muḥammad ibn Khālid Al-Barqi, from Qāsim ibn Yaḥyā ibn Ḥasan ibn Rāshid, from his grandfather Ḥasan, from Yūnus ibn Żabyān, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: Allāh will register one thousand purified Hajj and one thousand accepted ‘Umrah and will grant one thousand requests pertaining to this life and the Hereafter for those who go to the Ziyārah of Ḥusain (a.s.) on the night of the fifteenth of Sha’bān, on the night of Fiťr, and on the night of ‘Arafah all in the same year.
7. Muḥammad ibn Ḥasan (ibn Aḥmad) ibn Walīd narrated to me from Muḥammad ibn Ḥasan Al-Saffār, from Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn ‘Isā, from Muḥammad ibn Khālid Al-Barqi, from Ḥanān ibn Sadīr, from his father, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: On the Day of ‘Arafah, Allāh, the Exalted, looks toward the Zuwwār of the grave of Abī ‘Abdillāh Al-Ḥusain (a.s.) and says, “Continue with (good) deeds for I have forgiven you.” Thereafter, He attends to the people in ‘Arafāt.
8. Muḥammad ibn Ja’far narrated to me from Muḥammad ibn Ḥusain, from someone who he mentioned, from ‘Umar ibn Ḥasan Al-‘Arzami, who said: I heard Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) say: On the Day of ‘Arafah, Allāh looks toward the Zuwwār of the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.) and says, “Return with your past sins forgiven.” (Moreover) no sins will be registered for them for up to seventy days after they return.
9. My father and all of my scholars narrated to me from Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyā, and from Aḥmad ibn Idrīs, from ‘Amraki ibn ‘Ali, from Yaḥyā – the servant of Abī Ja’far the Second (Imam Jawād (a.s.)), from Muḥammad ibn Sinān, from Bashīr Al-Dahhān, who said: I heard Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) speaking in Ḥīrah to a group of Shia surrounding him. He turned his face toward me and asked, “O Bashīr! Did you go for Hajj last year?” I replied, “May I sacrifice myself for you! No, but instead I spent the Day of ‘Arafah next to the grave – referring to the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.).” Imam (a.s.) said, “O Bashīr! I swear to Allāh that you did not miss anything (from the blessings) that were in Makkah for those who were there.” I said, “May I sacrifice myself for you! Explain this to me, for (the blessing of being in) ‘Arafāt is (only available) in Makkah.” Imam (a.s.) replied: O Bashīr! Verily every time one of you raises his foot or places it down walking toward the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.) while knowing his rights, after performing Ghusl on the shores of the Euphrates (River), Allāh will give you (the reward of) one hundred accepted Hajj and one hundred purified ‘Umrah and (the reward of) fighting in a hundred battles with one of Allāh’s messengers against His enemies and the enemies of His Messenger. O Bashīr! Listen (carefully) and inform (only) those whose hearts can handle this, “Those who go to the Ziyārah of Ḥusain (a.s.) on the Day of ‘Arafah are like those who go to the Ziyārah of Allāh on His Throne.”
10. Muḥammad ibn ‘Abdil Mu`min narrated to me from Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyā, from Muḥammad ibn Ḥasan Al-Saffār, from Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad Al-Kūfi, from Muḥammad ibn Ja’far ibn Ismā’īl Al-‘Abdi, from Muḥammad ibn ‘Abdillāh ibn Mihrān, from Muḥammad ibn Sinān, from Yūnus ibn Żabyān, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: Allāh will register (the reward of performing) one million Hajj with the Qā`im (a.s.) and one million ‘Umrah with the Messenger of Allāh (s.a.a.w.), freeing one million slaves, and offering one million horses in the way of Allah, for one who goes to the Ziyārah of the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.) on the Day of ‘Arafah. Allāh will refer to him as, “My Truthful Slave who believed in My Promise.” And the angels will add the title “Truthful” to his name and will say, “Allāh has purified him from the top of His Throne.” Imam (a.s.) added, “He will be referred to as “KARŪB” on earth.”
11. My father narrated to me from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn ‘Isā, from Muḥammad ibn Ismā’īl ibn Bazī’, from Sāliḥ ibn ‘Uqbah, from Bashīr Al-Dahhān, who said: Ja’far ibn Muḥammad (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: Allāh will register the reward of one thousand Hajj and one thousand ‘Umrah and the reward of fighting one thousand times with one of Allāh’s messengers for those who go to the Ziyārah of the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.) on the Day of ‘Arafah while knowing his rights. And surely Allāh forgives those who go to his Ziyārah on the first day of Rajab.
12. My father narrated to me from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Muḥammad ibn ‘Isā ibn ‘Ubayd, from Muḥammad ibn Sinān, from Abī Sa’īd Al-Qammāť, from Yasār, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: If an insolvent person does not find the means to perform Ḥajjatul Islām, then he should go to the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.) and spend the Day of ‘Arafah next to his grave, for this will suffice as having performed Ḥajjatul Islām. Beware that I said this will suffice as performing Ḥajjatul Islām only for an insolvent person. If a wealthy person has already performed Ḥajjatul Islām and then decides to go for an additional Hajj or ‘Umrah, but misses it because he was hindered in some way or because he was preoccupied with the matters of this world, but goes to (the Ziyārah of) the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.) on the Day of ‘Arafah, this will be sufficient as having performed that (additional) Hajj or ‘Umrah and Allāh will multiply the rewards of this act greatly for him. I asked, “How many Hajj and how many ‘Umrah will be registered for him?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “It cannot be counted.” I asked, “(Is it) one hundred?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “And who can count it?!” I asked, “One thousand?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “And more.” Then the Imam (a.s.) added, “If you count the bounties of Allāh, you will not be able to number them’ (16:18). ‘Verily Allāh is all-pervading, all-knowing” (2:115).

1. My father, my brother and all of my scholars narrated to me from Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyā, from Muḥammad ibn ‘Ali Al-Madā`ini, from Muḥammad ibn Sa’īd Al-Bajali, from Qabīsah, from Jābir Al-Ju’fi, who said: I went to Ja’far ibn Muḥammad (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) on the Day of ‘Āshūrā and he said to me (as part of a longer Ḥadīth): These – referring to the Zuwwār of Ḥusain (a.s.) – are the Zuwwār of Allāh and it is an obligation on the host to honour the Zā`ir. Those who spend the night of ‘Āshūrā next to the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.) will meet Allāh on the Day of Judgment stained with their blood as if they were killed with him on his desert (Karbalā). Those who go to the Ziyārah of the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.) on the Day of ‘Āshūrā and spend the night next to his grave are like those who were martyred in front of Ḥusain (a.s.).

2. Abū ‘Ali Muḥammad ibn Hammām narrated to me from Ja’far ibn Muḥammad ibn Mālik Al-Fazāri, from Aḥmad ibn ‘Ali ibn ‘Ubayd Al-Ju’fi, from Ḥusain ibn Sulaymān, from Ḥusain ibn Asad, from Ḥammād ibn ‘Isā, from Ḥarīz, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: (Entering) Paradise is made mandatory for those who go to the Ziyārah of Ḥusain (a.s.) on the Day of ‘Āshūrā.
