Rewards

Reward of repeating ablution

حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَی قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی عَلِیُّ بْنُ الْحُسَیْنِ السَّعْدَآبَادِیُّ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْبَرْقِیِّ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنِ الْمُفَضَّلِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: مَنْ جَدَّدَ وُضُوءَهُ لِغَیْرِ صَلَاهٍ جَدَّدَ اللَّهُ تَوْبَتَهُ مِنْ غَیْرِ اسْتِغْفَارٍ.

2. It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. Musa who said it was narrated to me by Ali b. al-Hussain al-Sa’dabadi from Ahmad b. Abi Abdillah al-Barqi from his father from Muhammad b. Sinan from al-Muffadhal b. Umar from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “One who repeats ablution apart from prayers, the Almighty Allah forgives all his sin even without repentance.”

Reward of doing Miswak

أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِدْرِیسَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی إِبْرَاهِیمُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِیسَی عَنْ عُبَیْدِ اللَّهِ الدِّهْقَانِ عَنْ دُرُسْتَ بْنِ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: فِی السِّوَاکِ اثْنَتَا عَشْرَهَ خَصْلَهً هُوَ مِنَ السُّنَّهِ وَ مَطْهَرَهٌ لِلْفَمِ وَ مَجْلَاهٌ لِلْبَصَرِ وَ یُرْضِی الرَّحْمَنَ وَ یُبَیِّضُ الْأَسْنَانَ وَ یَذْهَبُ بِالْحَفْرِ وَ یَشُدُّ اللِّثَهَ وَ یُشَهِّی الطَّعَامَ وَ یَذْهَبُ بِالْبَلْغَمِ وَ یَزِیدُ فِی الْحِفْظِ وَ یُضَاعِفُ الْحَسَنَاتِ وَ تَفْرَحُ بِهِ الْمَلَائِکَهُ.

1. My father (rah) said: it was narrated to us by Ahmad b. Idris who said it was narrated to me by Muhammad b. Ahmad who said it was narrated to me by Ibrahim b. Ishaq from Muhammad b. Isa from ’Ubayd-Allah al-Dahqan from Durust b. Mansur from Abdillah b. Sinan from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “There are twelve virtues of doing Miswak – it is the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.), it cleans the mouth, improves eyesight, Allah becomes pleased, teeth are cleansed, teeth are prevented from decay, jaws become stronger, it increases appetite, it removes phlegm, it improves memory, it doubles the good deeds of a person and angels become happy.”

حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الصَّفَّارُ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِیِّ بْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَعِیدٍ الْمَدَائِنِیِّ عَنْ مُصَدِّقِ بْنِ صَدَقَهَ عَنْ عَمَّارٍ السَّابَاطِیِّ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ ع لَوْ یَعْلَمُ النَّاسُ مَا فِی السِّوَاکِ لَأَبَاتُوهُ مَعَهُمْ فِی اللِّحَافِ.

2. It is narrated from Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) that Imam Muhammad Baqir (a.s.) said, “If people would have known the benefit of doing Miswak they would have done it even on their beds.”

أَبِی ره عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَیْنِ بْنِ أَبِی الْخَطَّابِ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ یَحْیَی عَنْ إِبْرَاهِیمَ بْنِ أَبِی الْبِلَادِ عَنْ أَبِیهِ یَحْیَی بْنِ أَبِی الْبِلَادِ عَنْ أَبِی جَعْفَرٍ ع قَالَ: السِّوَاکُ یَذْهَبُ بِالْبَلْغَمِ وَ یَزِیدُ فِی الْعَقْلِ.

3. Abi (rah) from Abdillah b. Ja’far from Muhammad b. al-Hussain b. Abi al-Khattab from Safwan b. Yahya from Ibrahim b. Abi al-Balad from his father Yahya b. Abi al-Balad from Abi Ja’far (a.s.) who said: “Doing Miswak removes phlegm and increases intelligence.”

Rewards

Swallowing ones spit for the respect of mosque

أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْحِمْیَرِیُّ عَنِ السِّنْدِیِّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ طَلْحَهَ بْنِ زَیْدٍ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِیهِ ع قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص مَنْ رَدَّ رِیقَهُ تَعْظِیماً لِحَقِّ الْمَسْجِدِ جَعَلَ اللَّهُ رِیقَهُ صِحَّهً فِی بَدَنِهِ وَ عُوفِیَ مِنْ بَلْوَی فِی جَسَدِهِ.

1. It is narrated from Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.s.) said, “One who swallows his spit out of respect of mosque Allah makes his mouth the cause of safety of his body and no harm would be caused to his body.”

أَبِی ره عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حَسَّانَ عَنْ أَبِیهِ [عَنْ] عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: مَنْ تَنَخَّعَ فِی مَسْجِدٍ ثُمَّ رَدَّهَا فِی جَوْفِهِ لَمْ تَمُرَّ بِدَاءٍ إِلَّا أَبْرَأَتْهُ.

2. Abi (rah) from Abdillah b. Ja’far from Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Ahmad from his father [from] Abdillah b. Sinan from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “One who does not spit in mosque and swallows it, would soon be cured of the disease from which he is suffering.”

Rewards

Reward of performing ablution before going to bed

أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ یَحْیَی عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ عَنِ السِّنْدِیِّ بْنِ رَبْعَهَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ کُرْدُوسٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: مَنْ تَطَهَّرَ ثُمَّ آوَی إِلَی فِرَاشِهِ بَاتَ وَ فِرَاشُهُ کَمَسْجِدِهِ.

1. My father (rah) said: it was narrated to me by Muhammad b. Yahya from Muhammad b. Ahmad from al-Sindi b. Rab’a from Muhammad b. Kurdoos from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “One who goes to bed after performing ablution, his bed is like the place of worship in a mosque the whole night.”

Reward of rinsing one’s mouth and nose often

حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِیِّ بْنِ مَاجِیلَوَیْهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی عَلِیُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِیمَ بْنِ هَاشِمٍ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنِ النَّوْفَلِیِّ عَنِ السَّکُونِیِّ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ آبَائِهِ صَلَوَاتُ اللَّهِ عَلَیْهِمْ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص لِیُبَالِغْ أَحَدُکُمْ فِی الْمَضْمَضَهِ وَ الِاسْتِنْشَاقِ فَإِنَّهُ غُفْرَانٌ لَکُمْ وَ مَنْفَرَهٌ لِلشَّیْطَانِ.

1. Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) says, “For one who rinses his mouth and nose with water often this act would be a tool of salvation and he would develop a hatred for Shaitaan.”

Reward of wrapping a cloth while going to bathroom

حَدَّثَنِی عَلِیُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ وَ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنِ الْمُفَضَّلِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنِ الصَّادِقِ ع قَالَ: مَنْ دَخَلَ الْحَمَّامَ بِمِئْزَرٍ سَتَرَهُ اللَّهُ بِسِتْرِهِ.

1. It was narrated to me by Ali b. Ahmad from his father from his grandfather Ahmad b. Abi Abdillah from his father from Muhammad b. Khalid and Muhammad b. Sinan from al-Muffadhal b. Umar from al-Sadiq (a.s.) who said: “The Almighty Allah will cover with His Own cover one who goes to bathroom wrapping a cloth around himself.”

Reward of avoiding the sight of private parts of a believer

حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِیِّ بْنِ مَاجِیلَوَیْهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِی الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِیٍّ الْأَنْصَارِیِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنِ الصَّادِقِ ع قَالَ: مَنْ دَخَلَ الْحَمَّامَ فَغَضَّ طَرْفَهُ عَنِ النَّظَرِ إِلَی عَوْرَهِ أَخِیهِ آمَنَهُ اللَّهُ مِنَ الْحَمِیمِ یَوْمَ الْقِیَامَهِ.

1. It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. Ali b. Majluwayh who said it was narrated to me by Muhammad b. Abi al-Qasim from Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Khalid from Muhammad b. Ali al-Ansari from Abdillah b. Muhammad from Abdillah b. Sinan from al-Sadiq (a.s.) who said: “The Almighty Allah will save him from the boiling water of Hell one who goes to the bathroom and avoids seeing private parts of a brother in faith.”
