Rewards

Reward of reciting salutation (Salawaat) on the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) loudly

وَ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ عَنِ الْحُسَیْنِ بْنِ یَزِیدَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص ارْفَعُوا أَصْوَاتَکُمْ بِالصَّلَاهِ عَلَیَّ فَإِنَّهَا تَذْهَبُ بِالنِّفَاقِ.

1. Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) narrates that the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) said, “Recite salutation loudly, for it keeps away hypocrisy from you.”

Rewards

Reward of reciting Sub-h’aanallaah a hundredntimes after Morning Prayer and Allaahumma ihdinee after every Prayer

أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُوسَی عَنِ الْحُسَیْنِ بْنِ سَعِیدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِی عُمَیْرٍ عَنْ مُعَاوِیَهَ بْنِ وَهْبٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ یَزِیدَ عَنْ سَالِمٍ الْمَکِّیِّ عَنْ أَبِی جَعْفَرٍ ع قَالَ: أَتَی النَّبِیَّ ص رَجُلٌ یُقَالُ لَهُ شَیْبَهُ الْهُذَلِیُّ فَقَالَ لَهُ یَا نَبِیَّ اللَّهِ إِنِّی شَیْخٌ کَبِیرٌ قَدْ کَبِرَتْ سِنِّی وَ ضَعُفَتْ قُوَّتِی عَمَّا کَانَ تَعَوَّدْتُهُ نَفْسِی مِنْ صَلَاهٍ وَ صِیَامٍ وَ حَجٍّ وَ جِهَادٍ فَعَلِّمْنِی یَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ کَلَاماً یَنْفَعُنِی اللَّهُ بِهِ وَ خَفِّفْ عَلَیَّ یَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ أَعِدْ فَأَعَادَ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِیُّ ص مَا حَوْلَکَ شَجَرَهٌ وَ لَا مَدَرَهٌ إِلَّا قَدْ بَکَتْ مِنْ رَحْمَتِکَ فَإِذَا صَلَّیْتَ الصُّبْحَ فَقُلْ عَشْرَ مَرَّاتٍ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ الْعَظِیمِ وَ بِحَمْدِهِ وَ لَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَّهَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ الْعَلِیِّ الْعَظِیمِ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ یُعَافِیکَ بِذَلِکَ مِنَ الْعَمَی وَ الْجُنُونِ وَ الْجُذَامِ وَ الْفَقْرِ وَ الْهَدْمِ فَقَالَ یَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ هَذَا لِلدُّنْیَا فَمَا لِلْآخِرَهِ قَالَ تَقُولُ فِی دُبُرِ کُلِّ صَلَاهٍ اللَّهُمَّ اهْدِنِی مِنْ عِنْدِکَ وَ أَفِضْ عَلَیَّ مِنْ فَضْلِکَ وَ انْشُرْ عَلَیَّ مِنْ رَحْمَتِکَ وَ أَنْزِلْ عَلَیَّ مِنْ بَرَکَاتِکَ قَالَ فَقَبَضَ عَلَیْهِنَّ بِیَدِهِ ثُمَّ مَضَی فَقَالَ النَّبِیُّ ص أَمَا إِنَّهُ إِنْ وَافَی یَوْمَ الْقِیَامَهِ وَ لَمْ یَدَعْهَا مُتَعَمِّداً فَتَحَ اللَّهُ لَهُ ثَمَانِیَهَ أَبْوَابٍ مِنَ الْجَنَّهِ یَدْخُلُ مِنْ أَیِّهَا شَاءَ.

1. My father (rah) said: it was narrated to us by Sa’d b. Abdillah from Ahmad b. Musa from al-Hussain b. Sa’eed from Ibn Abi ’Umayr from Muawiyah b. Wahab from ’Amru b. Yazid from Salim al-Makki from Abi Ja’far (a.s.) who said: “If he appears on the Day of Judgment without leaving these actions purposely after every prayer Allah will open all eight doors of Paradise for him and he will be free to enter Paradise from whichever door he wishes.”

Reward of controlling oneself at the time of fear and anger

حَدَّثَنِی أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِیسَی عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِیِّ بْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنْ غَالِبِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ شُعَیْبٍ عَنْ رَجُلٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: مَنْ مَلَکَ نَفْسَهُ إِذَا رَغِبَ وَ إِذَا رَهِبَ وَ إِذَا اشْتَهَی وَ إِذَا غَضِبَ حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ جَسَدَهُ عَلَی النَّارِ.

1. It was narrated to me by Ahmad b. Muhammad from Sa’d b. Abdillah from Muhammad b. Isa from al-Hassan b. Ali b. Fadhal from Ghalib b. Uthman from Shu’aib from a man from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “One who controls himself at the time of fear and anger, Allah will prohibit fire for his body.”

Reward of helping in Amr bil Maroof and Nahi Anil Munkar

حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَی بْنِ الْمُتَوَکِّلِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ یَحْیَی الْعَطَّارُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ عَنْ یَعْقُوبَ بْنِ یَزِیدَ یَرْفَعُهُ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ ع الْآمِرُ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَ النَّاهِی عَنِ الْمُنْکَرِ خَلْقَانِ مِنْ خَلْقِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ فَمَنْ نَصَرَهُمَا أَعَزَّهُ اللَّهُ وَ مَنْ خَذَلَهُمَا خَذَلَهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ.

1. Imam Muhammad Baqir (a.s.) says, “Amr bin Maroof and Nahi Anil Munkar are the creatures of Allah, the Mighty and Sublime. One who helps them has honored Allah. One who insults them, Allah, the Mighty and Sublime will disgrace him.”

Reward of supplicating in congregation

حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِیٍّ مَاجِیلَوَیْهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی عَمِّی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِی الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْبَرْقِیِّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِیٍّ عَنْ یُونُسَ بْنِ یَعْقُوبَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَی عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: مَا اجْتَمَعَ أَرْبَعَهٌ قَطُّ عَلَی أَمْرٍ وَاحِدٍ یدعوا [فَدَعَوْا] إِلَّا تَفَرَّقُوا عَنْ إِجَابَهٍ.

1. It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. Ali Majluwayh who said it was narrated to me by my uncle Muhammad b. Abi al-Qasim from Ahmad b. Abi Abdillah al-Barqi from Muhammad b. Ali from Yunis b. Ya’qub from Abd al-A’la from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “If four people gather and supplicate together their supplication is accepted before they disperse.”

Reward of supplicating secretly

حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الصَّفَّارُ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِی هَمَّامٍ إِسْمَاعِیلَ بْنِ هَمَّامٍ عَنْ أَبِی الْحَسَنِ الرِّضَا ع قَالَ: دَعْوَهُ الْعَبْدِ سِرّاً دَعْوَهً وَاحِدَهً تَعْدِلُ سَبْعِینَ دَعْوَهً عَلَانِیَهً.

1. It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. al-Hassan who said it was narrated to me by Muhammad b. al-Hassan al-Saffar from Ahmad b. Muhammad from Abi Humam Ismail b. Humam from Abi al-Hassan al-Ridha (a.s.) who said: “A supplication done secretly is better than seventy supplications done openly.”

Reward of supplication before dawn

حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَی بْنِ الْمُتَوَکِّلِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی عَلِیُّ بْنُ الْحُسَیْنِ السَّعْدَآبَادِیُّ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْبَرْقِیِّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْجَامُورَانِیُّ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِیِّ بْنِ حَمْزَهَ الْبَطَائِنِیِّ عَنْ مَنْدَلِ بْنِ عَلِیٍّ عَنْ أَبِی الصَّبَّاحِ الْکِنَانِیِّ عَنْ أَبِی جَعْفَرٍ ع قَالَ: إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ یُحِبُّ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ الْمُؤْمِنِینَ کُلَّ دَعَّاءٍ فَعَلَیْکُمْ بِالدُّعَاءِ فِی السَّحَرِ إِلَی طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ فَإِنَّهَا سَاعَهٌ تُفْتَحُ فِیهَا أَبْوَابُ السَّمَاءِ وَ تَهُبُّ الرِّیَاحُ وَ تُقَسَّمُ فِیهَا الْأَرْزَاقُ وَ تُقْضَی فِیهَا الْحَوَائِجُ الْعِظَامُ.

1. It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. Musa b. al-Mutawakil who said it was narrated to me by Ali b. al-Hussain al-Sa’dabadi from Ahmad b. Abi Abdillah al-Barqi who said it was narrated to me by Abu Abdillah al-Jamurani from al-Hassan b. Ali b. Hamzah al-Bata’ini from Mandal b. Ali from Abi al-Sabah al-Kanani from Abi Ja’far (a.s.) who said: “Allah loves all the supplications of a believer. I advise you to supplicate between dawn and sunrise because the doors of heaven are opened, breeze of mercy blows, sustenance is distributed and greatest wishes are fulfilled during that time.”

Reward of supplicating for Believing men and women and Muslim men and women

أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ یَعْقُوبَ بْنِ یَزِیدَ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ یَحْیَی عَنْ أَبِی الْحَسَنِ ع أَنَّهُ کَانَ یَقُولُ مَنْ دَعَا لِإِخْوَانِهِ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِینَ وَ الْمُؤْمِنَاتِ وَ الْمُسْلِمِینَ وَ الْمُسْلِمَاتِ وَکَّلَ اللَّهُ بِهِ عَنْ کُلِّ مُؤْمِنٍ مَلَکاً یَدْعُو لَهُ.

1. Imam Musa Kadhim (a.s.) said, “One who supplicates for believers, the Almighty Allah appoints an angel for each believer to supplicate for that person.”

وَ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ عَنْ أَبِی الْحَسَنِ الرِّضَا ع قَالَ: مَا مِنْ مُؤْمِنٍ یَدْعُو لِلْمُؤْمِنِینَ وَ الْمُؤْمِنَاتِ وَ الْمُسْلِمِینَ وَ الْمُسْلِمَاتِ الْأَحْیَاءِ مِنْهُمْ وَ الْأَمْوَاتِ إِلَّا کَتَبَ اللَّهُ لَهُ بِکُلِّ مُؤْمِنٍ وَ مُؤْمِنَهٍ حَسَنَهً مُنْذُ بَعَثَ اللَّهُ آدَمَ إِلَی أَنْ تَقُومَ السَّاعَهُ.

2. And from the previous chain from Abi al-Hassan al-Ridha (a.s.) who said: “No believer supplicates for a living or dead believing men and women and Muslim men and women but that the Almighty Allah writes for him the reward of the good deeds of all believers from Adam (a.s.) till Qiyamat.”

حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الصَّفَّارُ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی أَبِی عَنْ عَلِیِّ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ عَنْ فَضْلِ بْنِ یُوسُفَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: مَنْ قَالَ کُلَّ یَوْمٍ خَمْسَاً وَ عِشْرِینَ مَرَّهً اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِلْمُؤْمِنِینَ وَ الْمُؤْمِنَاتِ وَ الْمُسْلِمِینَ وَ الْمُسْلِمَاتِ کَتَبَ اللَّهُ لَهُ بِعَدَدِ کُلِّ مُؤْمِنٍ مَضَی وَ کُلِّ مُؤْمِنٍ بَقِیَ إِلَی یَوْمِ الْقِیَامَهِ حَسَنَهً وَ مَحَا عَنْهُ سَیِّئَهً وَ رَفَعَ لَهُ دَرَجَهً.

3. It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. al-Hassan who said it was narrated to me by Muhammad b. al-Hassan al-Saffar from Ahmad b. Abi Abdillah who said it was narrated to me by Abi from Ali b. al-Nu’man from Fadhl b. Yusif from Abdillah b. Sinan from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “One who recites twenty five times everyday: Allaahummagh fir lil mu-mineena wal mu- minaati wal muslimeena wal muslimaat the Almighty Allah will write for him the reward of all the believers who passed away till those are yet to be born and wipe his sins out and increase his rank.”
