Thawāb al-Aʿmāl wa ʿiqāb al-Aʿmāl

أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِیمَ عَنْ عُمَرَ عَنْ أَبِی حَمْزَهَ الثُّمَالِیِّ عَنْ عَلِیِّ بْنِ الْحُسَیْنِ ع قَالَ: مَنْ أَطْعَمَ مُؤْمِناً مِنْ جُوعٍ أَطْعَمَهُ اللَّهُ مِنْ ثِمَارِ الْجَنَّهِ وَ مَنْ سَقَی مُؤْمِناً مِنْ ظَمَإٍ سَقَاهُ اللَّهُ مِنَ الرَّحِیقِ الْمَخْتُومِ وَ مَنْ کَسَا مُؤْمِناً کَسَاهُ اللَّهُ مِنَ الثِّیَابِ الْخُضْرِ.

2. My father (rah) said: it was narrated to me by Sa’d b. Abdillah from Ahmad b. Abi Abdillah from his father from Hamad b. Ibrahim from Umar from Abi Hamzah al-Thumali from Ali b. al-Hussain (a.s.) who said: “One who offers food to a hungry believer, the Almighty Allah will give him fruits of Paradise to eat. One who offers water to a thirsty believer the Almighty Allah will satisfy him with the drinks of Paradise. One who offers clothes to a believer the Almighty Allah will dress him in Green Dress.”

أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ رِبْعِیٍّ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: مَنْ أَطْعَمَ أَخاً فِی اللَّهِ کَانَ لَهُ مِنَ الْأَجْرِ مِثْلُ مَنْ أَطْعَمَ فِئَاماً مِنَ النَّاسِ قُلْتُ وَ مَا الْفِئَامُ قَالَ مِائَهُ أَلْفٍ مِنَ النَّاسِ.

1. My father (rah) said: it was narrated to me by Sa’d b. Abdillah from Ahmad b. Abi Abdillah from his father from Hamad b. Rib’i from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “One who feeds a believer for the sake of Allah will get the reward of feeding Fiyaam people.” The narrator asked, “What is meant by Fiyaam?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “A hundred thousand people.”

حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الصَّفَّارُ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْغِفَارِیِّ عَنْ عَلِیِّ بْنِ أَبِی الهنی [عَلِیٍّ اللَّهَبِیِ] عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ قَالَ: مَنْ أَطْعَمَ ثَلَاثَهَ نَفَرٍ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِینَ أَطْعَمَهُ اللَّهُ مِنْ ثَلَاثِ جِنَانٍ مَلَکُوتِ السَّمَاءِ الْفِرْدَوْسِ وَ جَنَّهِ عَدْنٍ وَ طُوبَی وَ هِیَ شَجَرَهٌ مِنْ جَنَّهِ عَدْنٍ غَرَسَهَا رَبِّی بِیَدِهِ.

1. It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. al-Hassan who said it was narrated to me by Muhammad b. al-Hassan al-Saffar from Ahmad b. Abi Abdillah b. Muhammad al-Ghifari from Ali b. Abi al-Hana [Ali al-Lahabi] from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said who said: “One who feeds three believers the Almighty Allah will offer him food in the three Gardens – Jannat-e-Firdaus, Jannat-e-Adn and Jannat-e- Tooba. Tooba is a tree of Jannat-e-Adn, grown by the Lord Himself.”

حَدَّثَنِی جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عُبَیْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَیْمُونٍ الْقَدَّاحِ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: مَنْ أَطْعَمَ مُسْلِماً حَتَّی یُشْبِعَهُ لَمْ یَدْرِ أَحَدٌ مِنْ خَلْقِ اللَّهِ مَا لَهُ مِنَ الْأَجْرِ فِی الْآخِرَهِ لَا مَلَکٌ مُقَرَّبٌ وَ لَا نَبِیٌّ مُرْسَلٌ إِلَّا رَبُّ الْعَالَمِینَ- ثُمَّ قَالَ مِنْ مُوجِبَاتِ الْمَغْفِرَهِ إِطْعَامُ الْمُسْلِمِ السَّغْبَانِ ثُمَّ تَلَا قَوْلَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ- أَوْ إِطْعامٌ فِی یَوْمٍ ذِی مَسْغَبَهٍ. یَتِیماً ذا مَقْرَبَهٍ أَوْ مِسْکِیناً ذا مَتْرَبَهٍ

1. It was narrated to me by Ja’far b. Muhammad from ’Ubayd-Allah from Abdillah b. Maymun al-Qadah from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “Nothing in this universe except Allah, knows the reward of feeding a Muslim to satiation. Feeding a Muslim is one of the deeds of being forgiven of one’s sins.” Imam recited the verse: ‘…Or the giving of food in a day of hunger to an orphan, having relationship, or to the poor man lying in the dust.”13

أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ عَنْ أَبَانِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ فُضَیْلِ بْنِ یَسَارٍ عَنْ أَبِی جَعْفَرٍ ع قَالَ: مَنْ أَشْبَعَ أَرْبَعَهً مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِینَ تَعْدِلُ مُحَرَّرَهً مِنْ وُلْدِ إِسْمَاعِیلَ ع.

1. My father (rah) said: it was narrated to me by Abdillah b. Ja’far from Ahmad b. Abi Abdillah from Muhammad b. Ahmad from Aban b. Uthman from Fudhayl b. Yasar from Abi Ja’far (a.s.) who said: “One who satisfies the hunger of four Muslims, Allah will grant him the reward of freeing a slave from the progeny of Ismail (a.s.).”

حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِیٍّ مَاجِیلَوَیْهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی عَمِّی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِی الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الصَّادِقِ ع قَالَ: مَنْ أَشْبَعَ جَوْعَهَ مُؤْمِنٍ وَضَعَ اللَّهُ لَهُ مَائِدَهً فِی الْجَنَّهِ یَصْدُرُ عَنْهَا الثَّقَلَانِ جَمِیعاً.

1. It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. Ali Majluwayh who said it was narrated to me by my uncle Muhammad b. Abi al-Qasim from Ahmad b. Abi Abdillah from Abi Abdillah Ja’far b. Muhammad al-Sadiq (a.s.) who said: “One who feeds a believer to satiation, Allah will lay such a table in Paradise that all the Jinn and men could have their fill from it.”

أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عِیسَی عَنْ رِبْعِیٍّ عَنْ سَمَاعَهَ عَنْ أَبِی جَعْفَرٍ ع قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص مَنْ أَعْتَقَ مُسْلِماً أَعْتَقَ اللَّهُ لَهُ بِکُلِّ عُضْوٍ مِنْهُ عُضْواً مِنَ النَّارِ.

1. Imam Muhammad Baqir (a.s.) narrates that the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) said, “One who frees a Muslim slave for the sake of Allah for each part of the body of that slave, the Almighty Allah will keep a part of his body safe from the fire of Hell.”

أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ بَشِیرٍ النَّبَّالِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ جَعْفَرَ بْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ ع قَالَ: مَنْ أَعْتَقَ نَسَمَهً صَالِحَهً لِوَجْهِ اللَّهِ کَفَّرَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ مَکَانَ کُلِّ عُضْوٍ مِنْهُ عُضْواً مِنَ النَّارِ.

1. My father (rah) said: it was narrated to me by Sa’d b. Abdillah from Ahmad b. Abi Abdillah from his father from Muhammad b. Sinan from Basheer al-Nabbal who said I heard Ja’far b. Muhammad (a.s.) who said: “One who frees a virtuous slave for the sake of Allah for each part of the body of that slave, the Almighty Allah will keep a part of his body safe from the fire of Hell.”

أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِیمَ بْنِ أَبِی الْبِلَادِ عَنْ أَبِیهِ رَفَعَهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص مَنْ أَعْتَقَ مُؤْمِناً أَعْتَقَ اللَّهُ بِکُلِّ عُضْوٍ مِنْهُ عُضْواً مِنَ النَّارِ وَ إِنْ کَانَتْ أُنْثَی أَعْتَقَ اللَّهُ بِکُلِّ عُضْوَیْنِ مِنْهَا عُضْواً مِنْهُ مِنَ النَّارِ لِأَنَّ الْمَرْأَهَ نِصْفٌ مِنَ الرَّجُلِ.

1. The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) said, “One who frees a believing slave for the sake of Allah, for each part of the body of that slave, the Almighty Allah will keep the parts of his body safe from the fire of Hell. If that slave is a woman for every two parts of the body of that woman, the Almighty Allah will keep a part of his body safe from the fire of Hell. Surely a woman is half that of a man.”

حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الصَّفَّارُ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِیهِ وَ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ النَّضْرِ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شِمْرٍ عَنْ جَابِرٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص مَنْ أَقْرَضَ مُؤْمِناً قَرْضاً یَنْتَظِرُ بِهِ مَیْسُورَهُ کَانَ مَالُهُ فِی زَکَاهٍ وَ کَانَ هُوَ فِی صَلَاهٍ مِنَ الْمَلَائِکَهِ حَتَّی یُؤَدِّیَهُ إِلَیْهِ.

1. Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) narrates that the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) said, “One who grants a loan to a believer and remains silent till it is repaid, his wealth will remain pure and angels will send salutations on him till that time.”
