Ibn Mahbub narrated from Hisham ibn Salim, from Abu Basir, from one of the Imams (a.s), regarding a man who gave another person money to perform a single Hajj (Hajjah Mufradah) on his behalf. The question was asked: "Is it permissible for him to perform the Tamattu' (combining 'Umrah and Hajj) instead?" Imam (a.s) said: "Yes, he has only deviated to what is more virtuous and better."
