Disciplines for a Child
عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَسْبَاطٍ عَنْ عَمِّهِ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ سَالِمٍ رَفَعَهُ قَالَ قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) عَلِّمُوا أَوْلَادَكُمُ السِّبَاحَةَ وَ الرِّمَايَةَ .
4. Ali ibn Asbat has narrated from his uncle Ya’qub ibn Salim in a marfu‘ manner who has said the following: “’Amir al-Mu’minin (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘You should teach your children swimming and sharp shooting.’”
عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ عَنْ رَجُلٍ عَنْ جَمِيلِ بْنِ دَرَّاجٍ وَ غَيْرِهِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ بَادِرُوا أَوْلَادَكُمْ بِالْحَدِيثِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَسْبِقَكُمْ إِلَيْهِمُ الْمُرْجِئَةُ .
5. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn Khalid from Muhammad ibn Ali from ‘Umar ibn ‘Abd al-’Aziz from a man from Jamil ibn Darraj and others who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘You should hasten (take the initiative) to teach Hadith to your children before al-Murji’ah (name of a sect) takes control over their mind and belief.’”
عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْأَشْعَرِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ الْقَدَّاحِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ يُفَرَّقُ بَيْنَ الْغِلْمَانِ وَ النِّسَاءِ فِي الْمَضَاجِعِ إِذَا بَلَغُوا عَشْرَ سِنِينَ .
6. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from and A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Ja’far ibn Muhammad al-Ash‘ariy from ibn al-Qaddah who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘When boys become ten years old, their bed must be separated from women.’”
وَ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ إِنَّا نَأْمُرُ الصِّبْيَانَ أَنْ يَجْمَعُوا بَيْنَ الصَّلَاتَيْنِ الْأُولَى وَ الْعَصْرِ وَ بَيْنَ الْمَغْرِبِ وَ الْعِشَاءِ الْآخِرَةِ مَا دَامُوا عَلَى وُضُوءٍ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَشْتَغِلُوا .
7. Through the same chain of narrators as that of the previous Hadith, the following is narrated: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘We instruct children to perform two Salat (prayer) together, one Salat (prayer) soon after the other, like al-Zuhr and al-‘Asr, al-Maghrib and al-‘Isha ’ as long as they have valid wudu before they get busy.’”
مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ غِيَاثِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ( عليه السلام ) أَدِّبِ الْيَتِيمَ بِمَا تُؤَدِّبُ مِنْهُ وَلَدَكَ وَ اضْرِبْهُ مِمَّا تَضْرِبُ مِنْهُ وَلَدَكَ .
8. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Muhammad ibn Yahya from Ghiyath ibn Ibrahim who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that ’Amir al-Mu’minin (a.s.), has said, ‘You must discipline an orphan as you discipline your own child and deal with him as you would deal with your own child (in matters of discipline).’”

The Rights of Children
عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ يُونُسَ عَنْ دُرُسْتَ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ مُوسَى ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا حَقُّ ابْنِي هَذَا قَالَ تُحْسِنُ اسْمَهُ وَ أَدَبَهُ وَ ضَعْهُ مَوْضِعاً حَسَناً .
1. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Yunus from Durust who has said the following: “Abu al-Hassan, Musa (a.s.), has said that once a man came to the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, and asked, ‘O Messenger of Allah, what is the right of my son, this one ? 5 He (the Messenger of Allah) said, ‘You should give him a good name and teach him with discipline, a good and fruitful subject.’”
مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُعَمَّرِ بْنِ خَلَّادٍ قَالَ كَانَ دَاوُدُ بْنُ زُرْبِيٍّ شَكَا ابْنَهُ إِلَى أَبِي الْحَسَنِ ( عليه السلام ) فِيمَا أَفْسَدَ لَهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ اسْتَصْلِحْهُ فَمَا مِائَةُ أَلْفٍ فِيمَا أَنْعَمَ اللَّهُ بِهِ عَلَيْكَ .
2. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Mu’ammar ibn Khallad who has said the following: “Dawud ibn Zurbiy complained against his son before abu al-Hassan (a.s.), because of what he had destroyed. He (the Imam) said, ‘Reform and reclaim him; a value of a hundred thousand is not important compared to the bounty that Allah has bestowed up on you.’”
عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ النَّوْفَلِيِّ عَنِ السَّكُونِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) رَحِمَ اللَّهُ وَالِدَيْنِ أَعَانَا وَلَدَهُمَا عَلَى بِرِّهِمَا .
3. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from al-Nawfaliy from al-Sakuniy who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘May Allah grant forgiveness to the parents who support their children in their kindness and virtuous deeds.’”
عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) بِالنَّاسِ الظُّهْرَ فَخَفَّفَ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأَخِيرَتَيْنِ فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قَالَ لَهُ النَّاسُ هَلْ حَدَثَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ حَدَثٌ قَالَ وَ مَا ذَاكَ قَالُوا خَفَّفْتَ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأَخِيرَتَيْنِ فَقَالَ لَهُمْ أَمَا سَمِعْتُمْ صُرَاخَ الصَّبِيِّ .
4. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ‘Abd Allah ibn al-Mughirah from ‘Abd Allah ibn Sinan who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, once performed Salat (prayer) of al-Zuhr with people and made the two last Rak’at light. When he (the Messenger of Allah) completed, people asked if something has happened during Salat (prayer). He (the Messenger of Allah) asked, ‘Why do you ask such question?’ They replied, ‘You made the last two Rak’at light.’ He (the Messenger of Allah) said, ‘Did you not hear crying of the child?”’
عَنْهُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ أَبِي خَالِدٍ الْوَاسِطِيِّ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) يَلْزَمُ الْوَالِدَيْنِ مِنَ الْعُقُوقِ لِوَلَدِهِمَا مَا يَلْزَمُ الْوَلَدَ لَهُمَا مِنْ عُقُوقِهِمَا .
5. It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from Muhammad ibn Sinan from abu Khalid al-Wasitiy from Zayd ibn Ali from his father from his grandfather who has said the following: “The Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘What parents’ declaring their children as disobedient entails for parents is exactly what children’s disobeying their parents entails for the children (both cases are extremely harmful ).’”
