That is because we surely heard the Messenger of Allah (s) say: “The treasurer of my secret after me is `Ali.”
By this isnad from Ibrahim b. Muhammad al-Thaqafi. He said: Al-Mas`udi narrated to me. He said: Yahya b. Salim al-`Abdi narrated to us from Isra’il from Maysara from al-Minhal b. `Amr from Zir b. Hubaysh. He said: `Ali (as) passed by while mounted on mule of the Messenger of Allah (s) with Salman. So, Salman (rh) said: Will you not go to him and take him by his belt? For, by Him who split the seed and gave life, none can inform you of the secret of your Prophet (s) except him. He is the scholar and the master of the Earth, and it settles due to him. If you lose him, you will have lost knowledge and negated the people.

When it would come down to him during the night, he would not awake [for the morning] until he informed `Ali of it.
Al-Husayn b. `Ali b. Ahmad al-Sa’igh (ra) narrated to us. He said: Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Sa`id al-Hamadani narrated to us. He said: Ja`far b. `Ubaydullah narrated to us from al-Hasan b. Mahbub from `Ali b. Ri’ab from Muhammad b. Qays from Abi Ja`far Muhammad b. `Ali al-Baqir (as). He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) led his companions in Fajr prayer one day. Then, he sat with them and spoke to them until sunrise. One person after another began leaving, until only two men were left with him: an Ansari and a Thaqafi. So, the Messenger of Allah (s) said to them: I have come to know that you two have a need, and you want to ask me about it. If you want, I could inform you of your need before you ask it of me; and if you want, you could ask me. They said: Rather, you inform us, O Messenger of Allah, for that would be clearer for the blind, further from suspicion, and more steadfast for faith. So, the Messenger of Allah (s) said: As for you, Ansari brother, you are from a people that favours others over yourselves. You are a villager, and this is a Thaqafi Bedouin, so will you allow him to precede you in questioning? So, he said: Yes. So, the Messenger of Allah (s) said: As for you, Thaqafi brother, you have come to ask me about your ablution and your prayer, and what reward you will reap from them. Know that when you put your hands in the water and say: “In the name of Allah (bismillah)”, the sins of your hands will dissipate. When you wash your face, the sins of what your eyes have seen and what your tongue has said will dissipate. When you wash your arms, the sins to your right and to your left will dissipate. When you wipe your head and your feet, the sins that you walked to on your feet will dissipate. So, this is for you for your ablution. When you go to prayer, face [the qibla], recite the Mother of the Book and what is easy for you from the chapters, bow and perfect your bowing and prostrating, testify, and recite the taslim then every sin that you have committed between each prayer will be forgiven. So, this is for you for your prayer. As for you, Ansari brother, you have come to ask me about your Hajj and `Umra, and what reward you will reap from them. Know that when you face the path of Hajj and journey to it, you will not take a step except that Allah will record a deed for you and erase a sin from you with each step. When you are gowned in the ihram and recite the talbiyya, Allah records ten good deeds and erases ten sins for every talbiyya. When you make seven circuits around the House of Allah, you will have a covenant with Allah, and your Lord would be too ashamed to punish you thereafter. When you pray two units at the maqam, Allah records two thousand accepted good deeds from you. When you perform the sa`i between Safa and Marwan seven times, you will have a reward with Allah that is like walking to Hajj from your country, and a reward that is like the reward of freeing seventy believers. When you stand at `Arafat till sunset, even if you had sins equivalent to the grains of sand and drops in the ocean, Allah will forgive them of you. When you pelt the pebbles [at the pillars], Allah will record ten good deeds for every pebble. When you slaughter your animal, Allah will record a deed for every drop of its blood. When you circle the House seven times in visitation and pray two units at the maqam, a noble angel will strike your shoulders and say: “As for what has passed, it has been forgiven for you. So, resume your work for the next hundred and twenty days.”

He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: The fasting person is in the worship of Allah, even when he is sleeping on his bed; as long as he is not backbiting a Muslim.
Muhammad b. al-Hasan b. Ahmad b. al-Walid (ra) narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. al-Hasan al-Saffar narrated to us from Ya`qub b. Yazid from Muhammad b. Sinan from Ghiyath b. Ibrahim from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad from his father from his forefathers (as). He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: Whoever fasts a day piously, seeking the reward of Allah, forgiveness becomes obligatory for him.
Muhammad b. Musa b. al-Mutawakkil (ra) narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. al-Husayn al-Sa`d Abadi narrated to us from Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Khalid from his father from Abi Qutada al-Qummi He said: `Abdullah b. Yahya narrated to us from Aban al-Ahmar from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad (as). He said: The people mentioned chivalry (futuwwa) around him, so he said: Do you think that chivalry is immorality and indecency? No, rather, chivalry and masculinity (muru’a) are not but feeding much, taking little, doing good, and withholding from harm – everything else is evil and immoral. Then, he (as) said: What is masculinity? So, we said: We do not know. He said: Masculinity is, by Allah, when a man puts his brothers before himself. There are two [types of] masculinities: (1) masculinity whilst present, and (2) masculinity whilst travelling. As for masculinity whilst present, it is reciting the Quran, sticking to the mosques, walking to the needs of the brothers, and being good to the servant, for this is what brings joy to the friend and anguish to the enemy. As for that whilst travelling, it is increasing in provisions and giving it to those with you, keeping the secrets of the people after you have separated for them, and being light-hearted in a way that does not anger Allah. Then, he (as) said: By Him who truly raised my grandfather (s) as a prophet! Surely, Allah will give sustenance to the worshiper in proportion to [his] masculinity. Aid comes down from heaven in proportion to [his] masculinity. Surely, patience comes down in proportion to the intensity of [his] suffering.
Al-Husayn b. Ahmad b. Idris (ra) narrated to us. He said: My father narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b `Abd al-Jabbar narrated to us from al-Hasan b. `Ali b. Abi Hamza from Isma`il b. `Abd al-Khaliq and Abi’l Sabah al-Kinani together from Abi Basir. He said: I heard Aba `Abdillah (as) say: Whoever withholds his harm from his neighbor, Allah will dismiss his offenses on the day of resurrection. Whoever is pure in his stomach and his private, he will be a joyous king in paradise. Whoever frees a believing soul, Allah builds a house for him in paradise.
Al-Husayn b. Ibrahim b. Ahmad b. Hisham al-Mu’addab (ra) narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. Abi `Abdillah al-Kufi narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. Isma`il al-Barmaki narrated to us. What do you say regarding the Quran, for some of us have disagreed regarding it? One group says it is created, [another] group says it is not created. So, he (as) said: I do not say what they say, but rather I say that it is the word of Allah.
