Punishment of taking Allah’s oath falsely
حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِیٍّ الْکُوفِیِّ عَنْ عَلِیِّ بْنِ حَمَّادٍ عَنْ أَبِی یَعْقُوبَ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: الْیَمِینُ الْغَمُوسُ یُنْتَظَرُ بِهَا أَرْبَعِینَ یَوْماً.
6. It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. al-Hassan who said it was narrated to me by Sa’d b. Abdillah from Ahmad b. Abi Abdillah from Muhammad b. Ali al-Kufi from Ali b. Hamad from Abi Ya’qub from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “The punishment of taking false oath is given to the person within forty days in this world itself.”
أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ یَحْیَی الْخَزَّازِ وَ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ وَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْمُغِیرَهِ عَنْ طَلْحَهَ بْنِ زَیْدٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: إِنَّ الْیَمِینَ الْفَاجِرَهَ لَتَنْقُلُ الرَّحِمَ قُلْتُ مَا مَعْنَی تَنْقُلُ الرَّحِمَ قَالَ تَعْقِرُ وَ أَمَّا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ یَحْیَی فَإِنَّهُ رَوَی یُنْقَلُ فِی الرَّحِمِ.
7. My father (rah) said: it was narrated to me by Sa’d b. Abdillah from Ahmad b. Abi Abdillah from his father from Muhammad b. Yahya al-Khazaz and Muhammad b. Sinan and Abdillah b. al-Mughira from Talha b. Zayd from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “False oaths are the reason behind ‘transfer of mercy’.” Upon being asked the meaning, Imam (a.s.) replied, “Transfer of mercy means spread of diseases.” Muhammad bin Yahya has narrated it as being heavy instead of being transferred.”
حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَی بْنِ الْمُتَوَکِّلِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْحِمْیَرِیُّ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ مَالِکِ بْنِ عَطِیَّهَ عَنْ أَبِی عُبَیْدَهَ الْحَذَّاءِ عَنْ أَبِی جَعْفَرٍ ع أَنَّهُ قَالَ فِی کِتَابِ عَلِیٍّ ع إِنَّ الْیَمِینَ الْکَاذِبَهَ وَ قَطِیعَهَ الرَّحِمِ تَذَرَانِ الدِّیَارَ بَلَاقِعَ مِنْ أَهْلِهَا وَ تَنْقُلَانِ الرَّحِمَ وَ إِنَّ انْتِقَالَ الرَّحِمِ انْقِطَاعُ النَّسْلِ.
8. Imam Muhammad Baqir (a.s.) said, “Taking false oaths and breaking relations are the causes of emptying cities of their residents and transfer of mercy. Transfer of mercy causes the cutting off of the progeny.”
حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَی بْنِ الْمُتَوَکِّلِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی عَلِیُّ بْنُ الْحُسَیْنِ السَّعْدَآبَادِیُّ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ الْبَزَنْطِیِّ بْنِ عَلِیٍّ عَنْ حَرِیزٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: الْیَمِینُ الْغَمُوسُ الَّتِی تُوجِبُ النَّارَ الرَّجُلُ یَحْلِفُ عَلَی حَقِّ امْرِئٍ مُسْلِمٍ عَلَی حَبْسِ مَالِهِ.
9. It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. Musa b. al-Mutawakil who said it was narrated to me by Ali b. al-Hussain al-Sa’dabadi from Ahmad b. Abi Abdillah from al-Bazanti b. Ali from Hareez from some of his companions from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “If a man swears falsely due to which there is a loss of wealth or right of a Muslim, he has made Hell obligatory on himself.”
حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الصَّفَّارُ عَنْ یَعْقُوبَ بْنِ یَزِیدَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِی عُمَیْرٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِیمَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَمِیدِ عَنْ أَبِی الْحَسَنِ شَیْخٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَبِی جَعْفَرٍ ع قَالَ: إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ خَلَقَ دِیکاً أَبْیَضَ عُنُقُهُ تَحْتَ الْعَرْشِ وَ رِجْلَاهُ فِی تُخُومِ السَّابِعَهِ لَهُ جَنَاحٌ بِالْمَشْرِقِ وَ جَنَاحٌ بِالْمَغْرِبِ لَا تَصِیحُ الدِّیَکَهُ حَتَّی یَصِیحَ فَإِذَا صَاحَ خَفَقَ بِجَنَاحَیْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ الْعَظِیمِ الَّذِی لَیْسَ یُحْلَفُ بِاسْمِهِ کَاذِباً.
10. It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. al-Hassan who said it was narrated to me by Muhammad b. al-Hassan al-Saffar from Ya’qub b. Yazid from Muhammad b. Abi ’Umayr from Ibrahim b. Abdul-Hameed from Abi al-Hassan a Sheikh from our companions from Abi Ja’far (a.s.) who said: “The Almighty Allah has created a giant white cock whose head is near the Divine throne and legs extending to the depth of seven layers of earth. One of its wings covers the entire east and another, the entire west, when open. No cock crows unless this cock does. When this cock wants to crow, it moves its wings and murmurs: Sub-h’aanallaahi Sub-h’aanallahil A’z’eemilladhee laisa kamithlihi shai. The Almighty Allah replies: A person who swears falsely by Me has no faith on Me in accordance with your saying.”
أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ یَحْیَی قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ أَبِی الْجَارُودِ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ عَبْدِ الْقَیْسِ عَنْ سَلْمَانَ رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ أَنَّهُ مَرَّ عَلَی الْمَقَابِرِ فَقَالَ السَّلَامُ عَلَیْکُمْ یَا أَهْلَ الْقُبُورِ-مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِینَ وَ الْمُسْلِمِینَ یَا أَهْلَ الدِّیَارِ هَلْ عَلِمْتُمْ أَنَّ الْیَوْمَ جُمُعَهٌ فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ إِلَی مَنْزِلِهِ نَامَ وَ مَلَکَتْهُ عَیْنُهُ أَتَاهُ آتٍ فَقَالَ وَ عَلَیْکَ السَّلَامُ یَا أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ تَکَلَّمْتَ فَسَمِعْنَا وَ سَلَّمْتَ فَرَدَدْنَا فَقُلْتَ هَلْ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ الْیَوْمَ جُمُعَهٌ فَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا مَا یَقُولُ الطُّیُورُ فِی یَوْمِ الْجُمُعَهِ قَالَ وَ مَا یَقُولُ الطَّیْرُ فِی یَوْمِ الْجُمُعَهِ قَالَ یَقُولُ قُدُّوسٌ قُدُّوسٌ رَبُّنَا الرَّحْمَنُ الْمَلِکُ مَا یَعْرِفُ عَظَمَهَ رَبِّنَا مَنْ یَحْلِفُ بِاسْمِهِ کَاذِباً.
11. Salman was passing by a graveyard. He said, “O believers and Muslims residing inside the graves, my salutations be upon you. O those who are lying here! Do you know that today is Friday?” He returned home and slept. He saw a man in his dream who said, “O servant of Allah! Salutations be upon you too. We heard whatever you said. You saluted us and we are giving you the reply. You had asked us whether we knew that today is Friday. We even know what birds say on Friday.” Salman asked, “What do birds say on Friday?” The man replied, “They say: Pure is our Glorious Allah Who is Great and there is none like Him. A person who swears falsely for the Lord is not aware of His greatness.”
أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَیْنِ بْنِ أَبِی الْخَطَّابِ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عِیسَی عَنِ الْحُسَیْنِ بْنِ الْمُخْتَارِ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: مَنْ حَلَفَ بِاللَّهِ فَلْیَصْدُقْ وَ مَنْ لَمْ یَصْدُقْ فَلَیْسَ مِنَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ فِی شَیْ ءٍ وَ مَنْ حَلَفَ بِاللَّهِ فَلْیَرْضَ وَ مَنْ لَمْ یَرْضَ فَلَیْسَ مِنَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ فِی شَیْ ءٍ.
12. My father (rah) said: it was narrated to me by Sa’d b. Abdillah from Muhammad b. al-Hussain b. Abi al-Khattab from Hamad b. Isa from al-Hussain b. al-Mukhtar from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “One who swears by Allah, should prove his words true. One who cannot prove it, there is no value for him in Allah’s view. Hence one who swears by Allah, should please Allah. If he is not able to please Allah, there will be no value for him in Allah’s view.”
Punishments
Punishment of carelessness about the impurity of urine
أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عِیسَی عَنْ أَبِی بَصِیرٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: إِنَّ أَجَلَّ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ فِی الْقَبْرِ مِنَ الْبَوْلِ.
1. My father (rah) said: it was narrated to me by Sa’d b. Abdillah from Ahmad b. Muhammad from Uthman b. Isa from Abi Basir from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “The punishment of grave is mostly due to careless attitude towards the impurity of urine.”
Punishments
Punishment of not giving importance to Salaat
حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِیٍّ مَاجِیلَوَیْهِ عَنْ عَمِّهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِیٍّ الْقُرَشِیِّ عَنِ ابْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنِ الْمِیثَمِیِّ عَنْ أَبِی بَصِیرٍ قَالَ: دَخَلْتُ عَلَی أُمِّ حَمِیدَهَ أُعَزِّیهَا بِأَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع فَبَکَتْ وَ بَکَیْتُ لِبُکَائِهَا ثُمَّ قَالَتْ یَا أَبَا مُحَمَّدٍ لَوْ رَأَیْتَ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عِنْدَ الْمَوْتِ لَرَأَیْتَ عَجَباً فَتَحَ عَیْنَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ اجْمَعُوا لِی کُلَّ مَنْ بَیْنِی وَ بَیْنَهُ قَرَابَهٌ قَالَتْ فَلَمْ نَتْرُکْ أَحَداً إِلَّا جَمَعْنَاهُ قَالَ فَنَظَرَ إِلَیْهِمْ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّ شَفَاعَتَنَا لَا تَنَالُ مُسْتَخِفّاً بِالصَّلَاهِ.
1. It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. Ali Majluwayh from his uncle from Muhammad b. Ali al-Qurashi from Ibn Fadhal from al-Maythami from Abi Basir who said: “One who considers Salaat unimportant will not receive our intercession.”
Punishments
Punishment of not performing Ghusl-e- Janaabat
حَدَّثَنِی أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَیْنِ بْنِ أَبِی الْخَطَّابِ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِی بَشِیرٍ عَنْ حُجْرِ بْنِ زَائِدَهَ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الصَّادِقِ ع قَالَ: مَنْ تَرَکَ شَعْرَهً مِنَ الْجَنَابَهِ مُتَعَمِّداً فَهُوَ فِی النَّارِ.
1. It was narrated to me by my father (rah) said: it was narrated to us by Sa’d b. Abdillah who said it was narrated to us by Muhammad b. al-Hussain b. Abi al-Khattab from Ja’far b. Abi Basheer from Hajar b. Zayida from Abi Abdillah al-Sadiq (a.s.) who said: “One who leaves a part of his body equal to the size of a hair intentionally while performing Ghusl-e-Janaabat will go to Hell.”
