Reward of reciting Surah Tauheed
أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ یَحْیَی قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ هِلَالٍ عَنْ عِیسَی بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ عَنْ أَمِیرِ الْمُؤْمِنِینَ ع قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص مَنْ قَرَأَ قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ مِائَهَ مَرَّهٍ حِینَ یَأْخُذُ مَضْجَعَهُ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهُ ذُنُوبَ خَمْسِینَ سَنَهً.
5. It is narrated from Amirul Momineen (a.s.) that the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) said, “One who recites Surah Tauheed a hundred times before going to bed, Allah will forgive sins committed by him in the past fifty years.”
حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الصَّفَّارُ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِیمَ بْنِ هَاشِمٍ عَنِ النَّوْفَلِیِّ عَنِ السَّکُونِیِّ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِیهِ ع قَالَ: إِنَّ النَّبِیَّ ص صَلَّی عَلَی سَعْدِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ فَقَالَ لَقَدْ وَافَی مِنَ الْمَلَائِکَهِ تِسْعُونَ أَلْفَ مَلَکٍ وَ فِیهِمْ جَبْرَئِیلُ ع یُصَلُّونَ عَلَیْهِ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ یَا جَبْرَئِیلُ بِمَا اسْتَحَقَّ صَلَاتَکَ عَلَیْهِ فَقَالَ بِقِرَاءَهِ قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ قَائِماً وَ قَاعِداً وَ رَاکِباً وَ مَاشِیاً وَ ذَاهِباً وَ جَائِیاً.
6. It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. al-Hassan who said it was narrated to me by Muhammad b. al-Hassan al-Saffar from Ibrahim b. Hashim from al-Nawfali from al-Sakuni from Ja’far b. Muhammad from his father (a.s.) who said: “His funeral prayer was attended by ninety thousand angels accompanied by Jibraeel (a.s.). I asked Jibraeel (a.s.), ‘Why did you people attend this funeral prayer?’ Jibraeel (a.s.) replied, ‘He used to recite Surah Tauheed while standing or sitting, riding or walking and while coming and going’.”
وَ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ عَنْ أَبِی الْحَسَنِ عَنْ أَبَانِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ قَیْسِ بْنِ الرَّبِیعِ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: مَنْ آوَی إِلَی فِرَاشِهِ فَقَرَأَ قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ إِحْدَی عَشْرَهَ مَرَّهً حَفِظَهُ اللَّهُ فِی دَارِهِ وَ فِی دُوَیْرَاتٍ حَوْلَهُ.
7. And from the previous chain from Abi al-Hassan from Aban b. Uthman from Qays b. al-Rabee’ from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “One who recites Surah Tauheed eleven times before going to bed Allah will protect his house along with all the neighboring houses.”
حَدَّثَنِی أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِیهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ عَنْ أَبِی الْحَسَنِ النَّهْدِیِّ عَنْ رَجُلٍ عَنْ فُضَیْلِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِی رَجُلٌ عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ جَهْمٍ الزَّیَّاتِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حَیٍّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَمِیرَ الْمُؤْمِنِینَ ع یَقُولُ مَنْ قَرَأَ قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ إِحْدَی عَشْرَهَ مَرَّهً فِی دُبُرِ الْفَجْرِ لَمْ یَتْبَعْهُ فِی ذَلِکَ الْیَوْمِ ذَنْبٌ وَ إِنْ رَغِمَ أَنْفُ الشَّیْطَانِ.
8. Amirul Momineen (a.s.) said, “One who recites Surah Qul huwallaahu ah’ad eleven times after Morning Prayer won’t commit any sin during that day even if the Satan tries hard. In this way, the Satan will be disgraced.”
أَبِی ره عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِیٍّ عَنِ الْحُسَیْنِ بْنِ جَهْمٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِیمَ بْنِ مرزم [مِهْزَمٍ] عَنْ رَجُلٍ سَمِعَ أَبَا الْحَسَنِ ع یَقُولُ مَنْ قَدَّمَ قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ بَیْنَهُ وَ بَیْنَ جَبَّارٍ مَنَعَهُ اللَّهُ مِنْهُ بِقِرَاءَتِهِ بَیْنَ یَدَیْهِ وَ مِنْ خَلْفِهِ وَ عَنْ یَمِینِهِ وَ عَنْ شِمَالِهِ فَإِذَا فَعَلَ ذَلِکَ رَزَقَهُ اللَّهُ خَیْرَهُ وَ مَنَعَهُ شَرَّهُ وَ قَالَ إِذَا خِفْتَ أَحَداً فَاقْرَأْ مِائَهَ آیَهٍ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ مِنْ حَیْثُ شِئْتَ ثُمَّ قال [قُلْ] اللَّهُمَّ اکْشِفْ عَنِّی الْبَلَاءَ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ.
9. Imam Musa Kadhim (a.s.) said, “One who recites Surah Tauheed before meeting an unjust person, Allah will protect him from all sides and he will remain safe from the mischief of that unjust person. He will benefit from meeting that unjust person. Whenever you develop fear of something, recite a hundred verses of the Holy Quran and say, ‘O Allah! Take this calamity away from me’ thrice.”
أَبِی ره عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ یَحْیَی الْعَطَّارِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِیِّ بْنِ أَبِی عُثْمَانَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ عَنْ حَفْصِ بْنِ غِیَاثٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع یَقُولُ لِلرَّجُلِ أَ تُحِبُّ الْبَقَاءَ فِی الدُّنْیَا قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ وَ لِمَ قَالَ لِقِرَاءَهِ قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ فَسَکَتَ عَنْهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ مِنْ بَعْدِ سَاعَهٍ یَا حَفْصُ مَنْ مَاتَ مِنْ أَوْلِیَائِنَا وَ شِیعَتِنَا وَ لَمْ یُحْسِنِ الْقُرْآنَ عُلِّمَ فِی قَبْرِهِ لِیَرْفَعَ اللَّهُ بِهِ دَرَجَتَهُ فَإِنَّ دَرَجَاتِ الْجَنَّهِ عَلَی قَدْرِ عَدَدِ آیَاتِ الْقُرْآنِ فَیُقَالُ لِقَارِئِ الْقُرْآنِ اقْرَأْ وَ ارْقَ.
10. Abi (rah) from Muhammad b. Yahya al-’Attar from Muhammad b. Ahmad from al-Hassan b. Ali b. Abi Uthman from a man from Hafs b. Ghiyath who said: “O Hafs! One from our Shias who dies without having a good knowledge of recitation of the Holy Quran, is taught the Holy Quran in grave so that Allah grants him great ranks. Know that the levels of Paradise are equal to the number of verses in the Holy Quran. A reciter of the Holy Quran is told over there, ‘Recite a verse of the Holy Quran and go to the next level’.”

Reward of reciting Surah Naas and Surah Falaq
أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِدْرِیسَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حَسَّانَ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِیلَ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنِ الْحُسَیْنِ بْنِ أَبِی الْعَلَاءِ عَنْ أَبِی عُبَیْدَهَ الْحَذَّاءِ عَنْ أَبِی جَعْفَرٍ ع قَالَ: مَنْ أَوْتَرَ بِالْمُعَوِّذَتَیْنِ وَ قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ قِیلَ لَهُ یَا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ أَبْشِرْ فَقَدْ قَبِلَ اللَّهُ وَتْرَکَ.
1. My father (rah) said: it was narrated to me by Ahmad b. Idris from Muhammad b. Ahmad from Muhammad b. Ahmad from Ismail b. Mihran from al-Hassan from al-Hussain b. Abi al-’Ala from Abi ’Ubayda al-Hadha from Abi Ja’far (a.s.) who said: One who recites in Watr Prayer Surah Falaq and Surah Naas with Surah Tauheed, it is said to him: O Servant of Allah! Congratulations! Allah has accepted your Midnight Prayer.
Rewards
Reward of abstinence from greater sins
أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ مُوسَی بْنِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ الْبَغْدَادِیِّ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِیٍّ الْوَشَّاءِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عُمَرَ الْحَلَبِیِّ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع عَنْ قَوْلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ- إِنْ تَجْتَنِبُوا کَبائِرَ ما تُنْهَوْنَ عَنْهُ نُکَفِّرْ عَنْکُمْ سَیِّئاتِکُمْ قَالَ مَنِ اجْتَنَبَ مَا أَوْعَدَ اللَّهُ عَلَیْهِ النَّارَ إِذَا کَانَ مُؤْمِناً کَفَّرَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ سَیِّئَاتِهِ وَ یُدْخِلُهُ مُدْخَلًا کَرِیماً وَ الْکَبَائِرُ السَّبْعُ الْمُوجِبَاتُ قَتْلُ النَّفْسِ الْحَرَامِ وَ عُقُوقُ الْوَالِدَیْنِ وَ أَکْلُ الرِّبَا وَ التَّعَرُّبُ بَعْدَ الْهِجْرَهِ وَ قَذْفُ الْمُحْصَنَهِ وَ أَکْلُ مَالِ الْیَتِیمِ وَ الْفِرَارُ مِنَ الزَّحْفِ.
1. My father (rah) said: it was narrated to me by Sa’d b. Abdillah from Musa b. Ja’far b. Wahab al-Baghdadi from al-Hassan b. Ali al-Washa from Ahmad b. Umar al-Halabi who said: The narrator asked Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) the meaning of the verse ‘If you shun the great sins which you are forbidden, We will do away with your small’. Imam (a.s.) replied, “One who keeps away from such sins due to which Allah throws one in Hell, Allah will forgive his sins and make him enter a good place (Paradise). There are seven greater sins, which condemn a person to Hell – killing an innocent, disobeying parents, taking interest, apostasy, accusing a virtuous woman of adultery, usurping the property of orphans and running away from Jihad.”
أَبِی ره عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِیسَی عَنِ الْحُسَیْنِ بْنِ سَعِیدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْفُضَیْلِ عَنْ أَبِی الْحَسَنِ الرِّضَا ع فِی قَوْلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ- إِنْ تَجْتَنِبُوا کَبائِرَ ما تُنْهَوْنَ عَنْهُ نُکَفِّرْ عَنْکُمْ سَیِّئاتِکُمْ قَالَ مَنِ اجْتَنَبَ مَا أَوْعَدَ اللَّهُ عَلَیْهِ النَّارَ إِذَا کَانَ مُؤْمِناً کَفَّرَ عَنْهُ سَیِّئَاتِهِ.
2. Imam Ridha (a.s.) says regarding the verse ‘If you shun the great sins which you are forbidden, We will do away with your small, “One who abstains from those sins for which Allah has promised Hell, Allah will forgive his (lesser) sins.”
Rewards
Reward of repenting for sins
حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَی بْنِ الْمُتَوَکِّلِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی مُوسَی بْنُ عِمْرَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَیْنُ بْنُ یَزِیدَ عَنْ عَلِیِّ بْنِ أَبِی حَمْزَهَ عَنْ أَبِی بَصِیرٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ سَمِعْتُهُ یَقُولُ أَوْحَی اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ إِلَی دَاوُدَ النَّبِیِّ ع یَا دَاوُدُ إِنَّ عَبْدِیَ الْمُؤْمِنَ إِذَا أَذْنَبَ ذَنْباً ثُمَّ رَجَعَ وَ تَابَ مِنْ ذَلِکَ الذَّنْبِ وَ اسْتَحْیَا مِنِّی عِنْدَ ذِکْرِهِ غَفَرْتُ لَهُ وَ أَنْسَیْتُهُ الْحَفَظَهَ وَ أَبْدَلْتُهُ الْحَسَنَهَ وَ لَا أُبَالِی وَ أَنَا أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِینَ.
1. It is narrated that Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) said, “Allah revealed onto Prophet Dawood, ‘O Dawood! If a believer commits sins and repents for it and feels ashamed in front of Me while repenting I forgive him. I will make the angel forget this sin and convert this sin into a good deed. I do not care (it is not difficult for me) for I am the Most Merciful’.”
