15. The narrator says that the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) did not use to fast for a whole month except in Shaban, which he used to link with Ramadan.

Sa'eed, from Ibn Abi 'Umayr, he said: Ahmad b. al-Nadr al-Khazzaz narrated to me, from 'Amr b. Shimr, from Jabir, from Abu Ja'far (AS), he said: "O Jabir! Whoever enters the month of Ramadan and fasts its days, stands in prayer during its nights, guards his chastity, guards his tongue, lowers his gaze, and refrains from harming others, he will emerge free of sins as the day his mother bore him." I said: "May I be your ransom! How excellent is this hadith!" He said: "How stringent is its condition."

2. Muhammad ibn al-Hasan narrated to us, saying: Al-Husayn b. al-Hasan b. Aban narrated to us, from al-Husayn b. Saʻeed, from al-Husayn b. ʻUlwan, from ʻAmr b. Shimr, from Jabir, from Abu Jaʻfar (as) who said: The Messenger of Allah (SW), upon seeing the crescent moon of Ramadan, would turn towards the Qiblah and say: Let it bring us security, faith, safety, Islam, abundant sustenance, prevention of diseases, Quranic recitation, assistance in prayers and fasting. O Allah! Safeguard us for the month of Ramadan, safeguard it for us, and accept it from us until the month of Ramadan completes and You forgive us.” Then he would turn to the people and say: 'O Muslims! When the crescent of the month of Ramadan appears, the rebellious devils are shackled, the gates of heavens, the gates of Paradise, and the gates of Mercy are opened, and the gates of Hellfire are closed, and supplications are answered. A large number of people are freed by Allah at the time of Iftar daily. A caller calls out every night, “Is there anyone who has a wish, Is there any seeker of forgiveness? O Allah! Reward everyone who spends in Your way and ruin the wealth of every miser till the moon of the month of Shawwal appears.” Abu Jaʻfar (as) said: "By Him in Whose hand is my soul, it is not the day of receiving the dinars and dirhams."

3. It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. Ali b. Majluwayh who said it was narrated to me by Muhammad b. Yahya al-’Attar from Muhammad b. Ahmad b. Ahmad b. Hilal from Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Abi Nasr from Aban from Abi Ja’far (a.s.) who said: "When the Prophet (sw) returned from 'Arafat and proceeded to Mina, he entered the mosque, and people gathered around him asking about the Night of Qadr. He stood as a preacher and said, after praising Allah, 'Now then, which of you asked me about the Night of Qadr? I did not withhold it from you because I did not know about it. Know, O people, that whoever witnesses the month of Ramadan while being healthy and sound, fasts during its days, spends a portion of its nights in prayer, maintains his prayers, attends the Friday prayers, and sets out for the Eid prayer, has indeed attained the Night of Qadr and has earned the reward of the Lord.’ <br>Then Abu Abdullah (as) said: 'By Allah, he has earned rewards that are unlike the rewards given by people.'"

4. Imam Muhammad Baqir (a.s.) says that the month of Ramadan was nearing and three days of Shaban were left when the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) told Bilal (r.a.) to call people to him. When people came, the Holy Prophet mounted the pulpit and praised and glorified the Lord. Then he said, “The month, which you are going to have now is supreme among all other months. There is a night in this month, which is better than a thousand months. The doors of Hell are closed in this month and the doors of Paradise are opened. One who is not forgiven in this month also Allah distances him. Similarly, a person has parents and is not able to get himself forgiven Allah distances him. One who does not recite Salawat when my name is mentioned in front of him, his salvation is not possible and Allah distances him.”

6. It is narrated that Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) said, “Surely, the Almighty Allah frees a large number of people on every night of the month of Ramadan. However one who concludes his fast with an intoxicant won’t be freed. The number of people freed in one night of the month of 2 Surah Momin 40:60 Ramadan is equal to the number of people freed in all the past nights.”

7. And it was narrated to me by Muhammad b. Musa b. al-Mutawakil who said it was narrated to me by Abdillah b. Ja’far al-Himyari who said it was narrated to us by al-Hassan b. Mahbub al-Zarrad who said it was narrated to us by Abu Ayoob’ from Abi Ja’far (a.s.) who said: “Allah is Merciful and He grant this reward to that person also who gives a little milk or a glass of drink or a few dates to others for Iftar. A person who is kind to slaves in this month, the Almighty Allah would be kind to him in accounting of his deeds. This is a month whose beginning is with mercy, middle is forgiveness and the end is with acceptance of supplications and freedom from Hell. There are four characteristics, which you cannot avoid. With two of them, you can please Allah and you cannot neglect the other two also. They are bearing witness that there is no lord except Allah and that I am His Messenger. And the two things, which you cannot avoid, are that you seek Paradise and protection against the fire of Hell from Allah.”
