2. My father, Muḥammad ibn Ḥasan, and ‘Ali ibn Ḥusain all narrated to me from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn ‘Isā, from ‘Ali ibn Ḥakam, from ‘Ali ibn Abī Ḥamzah, from Abī Basīr, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: Allāh, the Blessed and the Exalted, has dedicated seventy thousand angels to Ḥusain (a.s.) who are disheveled and covered with dust who send blessings on him every day. They pray for those who come to his Ziyārah by saying, “O Lord! These are the visitors of Ḥusain (a.s.)! Do such-and-such for them and (reward them with) such-and-such.”

They pray for those who come to his Ziyārah by saying, “O Lord! These are the visitors of Ḥusain (a.s.)! Do this for them and do that for them.”

5. Ḥusain ibn Muḥammad ibn ‘Āmir narrated to me from Aḥmad ibn Isḥāq ibn Sa’d, from Sa’dān ibn Muslim, from ‘Umar ibn Abān, from Abān ibn Taghlib, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: It is as if I can see the Qā`im (a.s.) in Najaf (next to) Kūfah wearing the armour of the Messenger of Allāh (s.a.a.w.). He will shake the armour (first) and then it will wrap itself around him, after which he will cover it with a robe made of brocade. He will be riding a pitch-black horse which has a raceme on its forehead. He will jump (with) the horse in such a way that people in every country will see him as if he is with them in their (own) country. Then he will unfold the flag of the Messenger of Allāh (s.a.a.w.). The flag-pole is from the pillars of the Throne while the rest (of the flag) is from Allāh’s victory! If he points this flag to anything, Allāh will destroy it. When he shakes the flag, the heart of every believer will become like a strong piece of iron and each believer will be given the strength of forty men. Every believer who has died will feel the happiness (of the rising of the Qā`im (a.s.)) in his grave. They (the dead believers) will start visiting one another in their graves and will give glad tidings to one another about the rising of the Qā`im (a.s.). Then thirteen thousand three hundred and thirteen angels will join the Qā`im (a.s.). I (Abān ibn Taghlib) asked, “This many angels will join him?” Imam (a.s.) replied: Yes. (These are) the angels who were with Nūḥ in the ark, with Ibrāhīm when he was cast in the fire, with Mūsā when he split the sea for the Banī Israel, and who were with ‘Isā when Allāh ascended him to Himself. (Among these angels are also) the four thousand “(fully equipped) distinguished angels” and the one thousand “angels [who came] in an unbroken succession” who were with the Prophet (s.a.a.w.), the three hundred and thirteen angels who fought in the Battle of Badr, and the four thousand angels who descended to fight along with Ḥusain (a.s.) but who were not permitted to (fight). They (these four thousand angels) remain by the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.), disheveled and covered with dust. They cry over him (and will continue to do so) until the Day of Judgment. Their chief is an angel named Mansūr. These angels receive everyone who comes to the Ziyārah of Ḥusain (a.s.) and they accompany them when they bid farewell to Ḥusain (a.s.). They visit them if they become ill, establish prayers on them at their funerals when they die, and seek forgiveness for them after their death. All of these angels are on earth waiting for the rising of the Qā`im (a.s.).

1. Ḥasan ibn ‘Abdillāh ibn Muḥammad ibn ‘Isā narrated to me from his father, from Ḥasan ibn Maḥbūb, from Abil Maghrā, from ‘Anbasah, who said: I heard Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) say: Allāh has dedicated seventy thousand angels to the grave of Ḥusain ibn ‘Ali (a.s.) who worship Allah next to him. Each of their prayers is equal to one thousand prayers of a human being, and the reward for their prayers is registered for those who go to the Ziyārah of the grave of Ḥusain ibn ‘Ali (a.s.) – may Allāh’s curse, the curse of the angels, and the curse of all of the people be upon those who killed him for all eternity.

My father and Muḥammad ibn Ḥasan both narrated to me from Ḥasan ibn Mattīl, and from Muḥammad ibn Ḥasan Al-Saffār, from Aḥmad ibn Abī ‘Abdillāh Al-Barqi, from Ḥasan ibn ‘Ali ibn Faďďāl, from Abī Ayyūb Ibrāhīm ibn ‘Uthmān Al-Kazzāz, from Muḥammad ibn Muslim, who said: Abū Ja’far (Imam Bāqir (a.s.)) said: Order our Shia to go to the Ziyārah of the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.). Verily going to his Ziyārah is obligatory on every believer who testifies that Ḥusain (a.s.) is an Imam appointed by Allāh, the Great and Almighty.

My father, my brother, ‘Ali ibn Ḥusain, and Muḥammad ibn Ḥasan all narrated to me from Aḥmad ibn Idrīs, from ‘Ubaydillāh ibn Mūsā, from Al-Washā, who said: I heard Imam Riďā (a.s.) say: There is a binding contract on every Shia and follower toward his Imam and the most perfect and beautiful way to fulfill this contract is to go to the Ziyārah of the grave of that Imam. On the Day of Judgment, the Imams (a.s.) will intercede for those who go to their Ziyārah while longing for it and believing in that which they have been ordered to believe. The above Ḥadīth has also been narrated to me through the following chain: Muḥammad ibn Ya’qūb Al-Kulayni, from Aḥmad ibn Idrīs, from ‘Ubaydillāh ibn Mūsā, from Al-Washā, from Imam Riďā (a.s.).

Muḥammad ibn Ja’far Al-Razzāz narrated to me from Muḥammad ibn Ḥusain ibn Abil Khaťťāb, from Abī Dāwūd Al-Mustariq, from Um Sa’īd Al-Aḥmasiyyah, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) asked me, “O Um Sa’īd! Do you go to the Ziyārah of the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.)?” I replied, “Yes.” Imam (a.s.) said, “Go to his Ziyārah, for verily going to the Ziyārah of the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.) is WĀJIB (mandatory) on both men and women.”

4. My father and Muḥammad ibn Ḥasan both narrated to me from Ḥasan ibn Mattīl, from Ḥasan ibn ‘Ali Al-Kūfi, from ‘Ali ibn Ḥassān Al-Hāshimi, from ‘Abdil Raḥmān ibn Kuthayr – the servant of Abī Ja’far (Imam Bāqir (a.s.)), who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: Even if you go to Hajj every year of your life but do not go to the Ziyārah of Ḥusain ibn ‘Ali (a.s.), you have abandoned one of your obligations toward Allāh and His Messenger (s.a.a.w.). Verily Allāh has made it mandatory (on the believers to fulfill) the right(s) of Ḥusain (a.s.), and this (Ziyārah) is obligatory on every Muslim.
