The Case of One Whose Wudu’ Is Invalidated Before Al-Taslim

1331. hadíth Majlisī: حسن

2ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أُذَيْنَةَ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) فِي الرَّجُلِ يُحْدِثُ بَعْدَ مَا يَرْفَعُ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ السَّجْدَةِ الأخِيرَةِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَتَشَهَّدَ قَالَ يَنْصَرِفُ فَيَتَوَضَّأُ فَإِنْ شَاءَ رَجَعَ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ وَإِنْ شَاءَ فَفِي بَيْتِهِ وَإِنْ شَاءَ حَيْثُ شَاءَ يَقْعُدُ فَيَتَشَهَّدُ ثُمَّ يُسَلِّمُ وَإِنْ كَانَ الْحَدَثُ بَعْدَ التَّشَهُّدِ فَقَدْ مَضَتْ صَلاَتُهُ.

2. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from ‘Umar ibn ’Udhaynah from Zurarah who has said the following: “Wudu’ of a man may become invalid after he raises his head from the last Sajdah (prostration) before Tashahhud (testimonies of belief). Abu Ja’far (a.s.), has said, ’He moves to take Wudu’ and if he wants to return to Masjid or if he wants in his house, sits down to say Tashahhud (testimonies of belief) and the phrase of offering greeting of peace. If his Wudu’ becomes invalid after Tashahhud (testimonies of belief), his Salah (prayer) is passed.’”

Mistake in Opening of Salah (Prayer)

1332. hadíth Majlisī: حسن كالصحيح

1ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ هَاشِمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ جَمِيلٍ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ شَاذَانَ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ جَمِيلِ بْنِ دَرَّاجٍ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يَنْسَى تَكْبِيرَةَ الافْتِتَاحِ قَالَ يُعِيدُ.

1. Ali ibn Ibrahim ibn Hashim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Jamil and Muhammad ibn ’Isma‘il from al-Fadl ibn Shadhan from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Jamil ibn Darraj from Zurarah who has said the following: “I once asked abu Ja‘far (a.s.), about one who forgets the opening Takbir (Allah is great beyond description). He (the Imam) said, ‘He says it again.’”

1333. hadíth Majlisī: موثق

2ـ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأشْعَرِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الله بْنِ عَامِرٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مَهْزِيَارَ عَنْ فَضَالَةَ عَنْ أَبَانٍ عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ أَوِ ابْنِ أَبِي يَعْفُورٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) أَنَّهُ قَالَ فِي الرَّجُلِ يُصَلِّي فَلَمْ يَفْتَتِحْ بِالتَّكْبِيرِ هَلْ تُجْزِئُهُ تَكْبِيرَةُ الرُّكُوعِ قَالَ لاَ بَلْ يُعِيدُ صَلاَتَهُ إِذَا حَفِظَ أَنَّهُ لَمْ يُكَبِّرْ.

2. Al-Husayn ibn Muhammad al-Ash’ariy has narrated from ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Amir from Ali ibn Mahziyar from Fadalah from Aban from al-Fadl ibn ‘Abd al-Malik or ibn abu Ya‘fur who has said the following: “About a man who performs Salah (prayer) but forgets to say the opening Takbir (Allah is great beyond description) if Takbir (Allah is great beyond description) for Ruku‘ (bowing down on one’s knees) is sufficient. Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘It is not sufficient. He performs Salah (prayer) again when he finds out that he has not said the Takbir (Allah is great beyond description).”’

1334. hadíth Majlisī: مرفوع

3ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى رَفَعَهُ عَنِ الرِّضَا (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ الإِمَامُ يَحْمِلُ أَوْهَامَ مَنْ خَلْفَهُ إِلاَّ تَكْبِيرَةَ الافْتِتَاحِ.

3. Muhammad ibn Yahya in a marfu‘ manner has narrated from the following: “Al-Rida (a.s.), has said, ‘An Imam carries and sustains the conjectures of those who are behind him except the opening Takbir (Allah is great beyond description).”’

Mistake in Recitation

1335. hadíth Majlisī: مجهول كالصحيح

1ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ شَاذَانَ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ رِبْعِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ الله عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ أَحَدِهِمَا (عَلَيْهِما الْسَّلام) قَالَ إِنَّ الله فَرَضَ الرُّكُوعَ وَالسُّجُودَ وَالْقِرَاءَةُ سُنَّةٌ فَمَنْ تَرَكَ الْقِرَاءَةَ مُتَعَمِّداً أَعَادَ الصَّلاَةَ وَمَنْ نَسِيَ الْقِرَاءَةَ فَقَدْ تَمَّتْ صَلاَتُهُ وَلاَ شَيْ‏ءَ عَلَيْهِ.

1. Muhammad ibn ’Isma‘il has narrated from al-Fadl ibn Shadhan from Hammad ibn ‘Isa from Rib‘i ibn ‘Abd Allah from Muhammad ibn Muslim who has said the following: “One of the two Imam, ‘Alayhim al-Salam, has said, ’Allah has made Ruku‘ (bowing down on one’s knees) and Sujud (prostrations) obligatory. Recitation is Sunnah. Whoever omits recitation willfully performs Salah (prayer) again. Whoever forgets recitation his Salah (prayer) is complete and he is not obligated for anything in this matter.’”

1336. hadíth Majlisī: ضعيف

2ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) عَنْ رَجُلٍ نَسِيَ أُمَّ الْقُرْآنِ قَالَ إِنْ كَانَ لَمْ يَرْكَعْ فَلْيُعِدْ أُمَّ الْقُرْآنِ.

2. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id from al-Qasim ibn Muhammad, from Ali ibn abu Hamzah from abu Basir, from who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man who forgets ‘Umm al-Quran (al- Fatihah). He (the Imam) said, ‘If he has not yet reached Ruku‘ position, he recites it again.’”

1337. hadíth Majlisī: موثق

3ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ عَنْ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ حَازِمٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ لأَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) إِنِّي صَلَّيْتُ الْمَكْتُوبَةَ فَنَسِيتُ أَنْ أَقْرَأَ فِي صَلاَتِي كُلِّهَا فَقَالَ أَ لَيْسَ قَدْ أَتْمَمْتَ الرُّكُوعَ وَالسُّجُودَ قُلْتُ بَلَى قَالَ قَدْ تَمَّتْ صَلاَتُكَ إِذَا كَانَ نِسْيَاناً.

3. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn Faddal from Yunus ibn Ya‘qub from Mansur ibn Hazim who has said the following: “I once said to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘I performed the obligatory Salah (prayer) but forgot the recitation in all of my Salah (prayer). He (the Imam) asked, ‘Did you complete Ruku‘ (bowing down on one’s knees) and Sujud (prostrations)?’ I replied, ‘Yes, I did so.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Your Salah (prayer) is complete if it was because of forgetfulness.’”

Mistake in Ruku‘

1338. hadíth Majlisī: صحيح

1ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ فَضَالَةَ بْنِ أَيُّوبَ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنِ ابْنِ مُسْكَانَ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يَشُكُّ وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ لاَ يَدْرِي رَكَعَ أَمْ لَمْ يَرْكَعْ قَالَ يَرْكَعُ وَيَسْجُدُ.

1. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id from Fadalah ibn Ayyub from al-Husayn ibn ‘Uthman from ibn Muskan from abu Basir who has said the following: “I once asked abu ’Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man who in a standing position doubts and does not know if he has performed Ruku‘ (bowing down on one’s knees) or not. He (the Imam) said, ‘He performs Ruku‘ and Sajdah (prostration).”’

1339. hadíth Majlisī: حسن كالصحيح

2ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ شَاذَانَ جَمِيعاً عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ رِفَاعَةَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ سَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ رَجُلٍ نَسِيَ أَنْ يَرْكَعَ حَتَّى يَسْجُدَ وَيَقُومَ قَالَ يَسْتَقْبِلُ.

2. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from and Muhammad ibn ’Isma‘il from al-Fadl ibn Shadhan all from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Rifa‘ah who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man who forgets performing Ruku‘ (bowing down on one’s knees) until he performs Sajdah (prostration) and stands up. He (the Imam) said, ‘He performs Salah (prayer) again.’”

1340. hadíth Majlisī: حسن

3ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أُذَيْنَةَ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ إِذَا اسْتَيْقَنَ أَنَّهُ قَدْ زَادَ فِي الصَّلاَةِ الْمَكْتُوبَةِ رَكْعَةً لَمْ يَعْتَدَّ بِهَا وَاسْتَقْبَلَ الصَّلاَةَ اسْتِقْبَالاً إِذَا كَانَ قَدِ اسْتَيْقَنَ يَقِيناً.

3. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from ‘Umar ibn ’Udhaynah from Zurarah who has said the following: “Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has sad, ‘If one is certain that he has increased one Rak‘at in an obligatory Salah (prayer) he disregards it and performs that Salah (prayer) again if he has certainty.’”
