The Book of Supplication

One’s Saying: I Testify That No One Deserves to be Worshipped Except Allah Alone Who Has No Partner and I Testify That Muhammad is His Servant and Messenger

1811. hadíth Majlisī: حسن على الظاهر

1ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ الْحَذَّاءِ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ مَنْ قَالَ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لا إِلَهَ إِلا الله وَحْدَهُ لا شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّداً عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ كَتَبَ الله لَهُ أَلْفَ أَلْفِ حَسَنَةٍ.

1. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Sa’Id from abu ‘Ubaydah al-Hadhdha’ from abu Ja’far (a.s.) who has said the following: “Whoever says, ‘I testify that no one deserves to be worshipped except Allah alone, Who has no partner, and I testify that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger, Allah will write down for him one million good deeds.’”

One’s Saying ten Times Everyday: I Testify That No One Deserves to be Worshipped Except Allah Alone Who Has No Partner, One Lord, the Only Self- Sufficient, Who Has Not Taken any Companion and Nor any Children

1812. hadíth Majlisī: ضعيف

1ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي نَجْرَانَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ الْعَبْدِيِّ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ مَنْ قَالَ فِي كُلِّ يَوْمٍ عَشْرَ مَرَّاتٍ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لا إِلَهَ إِلا الله وَحْدَهُ لا شَرِيكَ لَهُ إِلَهاً وَاحِداً أَحَداً صَمَداً لَمْ يَتَّخِذْ صَاحِبَةً وَلا وَلَداً كَتَبَ الله لَهُ خَمْسَةً وَأَرْبَعِينَ أَلْفَ حَسَنَةٍ وَمَحَا عَنْهُ خَمْسَةً وَأَرْبَعِينَ أَلْفَ سَيِّئَةٍ وَرَفَعَ لَهُ خَمْسَةً وَأَرْبَعِينَ أَلْفَ دَرَجَةٍ وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ أُخْرَى وَكُنَّ لَهُ حِرْزاً فِي يَوْمِهِ مِنَ السُّلْطَانِ وَالشَّيْطَانِ وَلَمْ تُحِطْ بِهِ كَبِيرَةٌ مِنَ الذُّنُوبِ.

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad and Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn abu Najran from ‘Abd al-‘Aziz al-‘Abdi from ‘Umar ibn Yazid from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “Whoever says ten times everyday, ‘I testify that no one deserves to be worshipped except Allah alone, Who has no partner. One Lord, the only Self-sufficient, Who has not taken any companion nor any children,’ Allah will write down for him forty-five thousand good deeds, will cancel forty-five thousand of his evil deeds and will raise for him forty-five thousand degrees.’” “In another Hadith it is stated, ‘The above expression will serve him as stronghold against rulers and Satan and no major sin will engulf him.’”

One’s Saying: O Allah, O Allah Ten Times

1813. hadíth Majlisī: صحيح

1ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ بْنِ الْحُرِّ أَخِي أُدَيْمٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ مَنْ قَالَ يَا الله يَا الله عَشْرَ مَرَّاتٍ قِيلَ لَهُ لَبَّيْكَ مَا حَاجَتُكَ.

1. Muhammad ibn Y ahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from his father from Ayyub ibn al-Hurr brother of ‘Udaym from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “Whoever says, ‘O Allah, ten times, it will be said to him, ‘ Labbayka ’ (your call for help is well heard and noted). What kind of help do you need?”’

One’s Saying: No One Deserves to be Worshipped Except Allah Indeed and in Truth

1814. hadíth Majlisī: مجهول

1ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى الأرْمِينِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عِمْرَانَ الْخَرَّاطِ عَنِ الأوْزَاعِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ مَنْ قَالَ فِي كُلِّ يَوْمٍ لا إِلَهَ إِلا الله حَقّاً حَقّاً لا إِلَهَ إِلا الله عُبُودِيَّةً وَرِقّاً لا إِلَهَ إِلا الله إِيمَاناً وَصِدْقاً أَقْبَلَ الله عَلَيْهِ بِوَجْهِهِ وَلَمْ يَصْرِفْ وَجْهَهُ عَنْهُ حَتَّى يَدْخُلَ الْجَنَّةَ.

1. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa al-‘Armini from abu ‘Imran al-Kharrat from al-Awza’I from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “Whoever says ten times a day, ‘No one deserves to be worshipped except Allah, indeed and in all truth, no one deserves to be worshipped except Allah, servitude and slavery is for Him, no one deserves to be worshipped except Allah, in belief and affirmation, Allah will turn to him with His face and will not turn away from him until he will enter paradise.’”

One’s Saying: “O Lord, O Lord”

1815. hadíth Majlisī: صحيح

1ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ أَيُّوبَ بْنِ الْحُرِّ أَخِي أُدَيْمٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ مَنْ قَالَ عَشْرَ مَرَّاتٍ يَا رَبِّ يَا رَبِّ قِيلَ لَهُ لَبَّيْكَ مَا حَاجَتُكَ.

1. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Ayyub ibn al-Hurr brother of ‘Udaym from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “Whoever says ten times, ‘O Lord.’ It will be said to him, “Your call for help is well heard and noted. What kind of help do you need?’”

2ـ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ جَمِيعاً عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حُمْرَانَ قَالَ مَرِضَ إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) فَقَالَ لَهُ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قُلْ يَا رَبِّ يَا رَبِّ عَشْرَ مَرَّاتٍ فَإِنَّ مَنْ قَالَ ذَلِكَ نُودِيَ لَبَّيْكَ مَا حَاجَتُكَ.

2. Ahmad ibn Muhammad and Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father all have narrated from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Muhammad ibn Humran who has said the following: “When Isma’il son of Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) became ill, Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) told him to say, ‘Ten times; O Lord.’ Whoever says this will be called, ‘Your call is heard and well noticed, ask what kind of help do you need?”’

1817. hadíth Majlisī: صحيح

3ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ مَنْ قَالَ يَا رَبِّ يَا الله يَا رَبِّ يَا الله حَتَّى يَنْقَطِعَ نَفَسُهُ قِيلَ لَهُ لَبَّيْكَ مَا حَاجَتُكَ.

3. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Mu’awiyah from abu Basir from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “Whoever says, ‘O Lord, O Allah, for one full breath, it is said to him, “Your call is heard and well noticed, ask what kind of help do you need?”’

One’s Sincerely Saying: ‘‘No one Deserves to be Worshipped Except Allah”

1818. hadíth Majlisī: موثق

1ـ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُعَلَّى بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَعِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ جَمِيعاً عَنِ الْوَشَّاءِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَائِذٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ السَّوَّاقِ عَنْ أَبَانِ بْنِ تَغْلِبَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ يَا أَبَانُ إِذَا قَدِمْتَ الْكُوفَةَ فَارْوِ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ مَنْ شَهِدَ أَنْ لا إِلَهَ إِلا الله مُخْلِصاً وَجَبَتْ لَهُ الْجَنَّةُ قَالَ قُلْتُ لَهُ إِنَّهُ يَأْتِينِي مِنْ كُلِّ صِنْفٍ مِنَ الأصْنَافِ أَ فَأَرْوِي لَهُمْ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ قَالَ نَعَمْ يَا أَبَانُ إِنَّهُ إِذَا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْقِيَامَةِ وَجَمَعَ الله الأوَّلِينَ وَالآخِرِينَ فَتُسْلَبُ لا إِلَهَ إِلا الله مِنْهُمْ إِلا مَنْ كَانَ عَلَى هَذَا الأمْرِ.

Al-Husayn ibn Muhammad has narrated from Mu’alla ibn Muhammad and A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad all from al- Washsha’ from Ahmad ibn ‘Ai’z from abu al-Hassan al-Sawwaq from Aban ibn Taghlib from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “O Aban, when you will arrive in al-Kufah, narrate this Hadith : ‘Whoever testifies sincerely saying, “No one deserves to be worshipped except Allah,” paradise becomes necessary for him. I (the narrator) then said, ‘All kinds of people will come to me, shall I narrate it to them?’ The Imam said, ‘Yes, O Aban, when it will be the Day of Judgment and Allah will gather all the people of the past and last together, the testimony: ‘No one deserves to be worshipped except Allah,’ will be taken away from them except those who believe in this cause (belief of the followers of Ahl al-Baay (a.s.)).”’

One’s Saying: “As Allah Wills, There are No Means And No Power Without the Help of Allah”

1819. hadíth Majlisī: صحيح

1ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ إِذَا دَعَا الرَّجُلُ فَقَالَ بَعْدَ مَا دَعَا مَا شَاءَ الله لا حَوْلَ وَلا قُوَّةَ إِلا بِالله قَالَ الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ اسْتَبْسَلَ عَبْدِي وَاسْتَسْلَمَ لأمْرِي اقْضُوا حَاجَتَهُ.

1. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Ali ibn al-Hakam from Hisham ibn Salim from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “When a man prays and thereafter says, ‘As Allah wills, there are no means and no power without the help of Allah,’ Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, says, “My servant has accepted dying and has submitted himself to My command. Provide him the help that he needs.’”

1820. hadíth Majlisī: مرسل

2ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ عَنْ جَمِيلٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ مَنْ قَالَ مَا شَاءَ الله لا حَوْلَ وَلا قُوَّةَ إِلا بِالله سَبْعِينَ مَرَّةً صَرَفَ عَنْهُ سَبْعِينَ نَوْعاً مِنْ أَنْوَاعِ الْبَلاءِ أَيْسَرُ ذَلِكَ الْخَنْقُ قُلْتُ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ وَمَا الْخَنْقُ قَالَ لا يَعْتَلُّ بِالْجُنُونِ فَيُخْنَقَ.

2. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from certain individuals of his people from Jamil who has said the following: “I heard Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) saying, ‘Whoever says, “As Allah wills, there are no means and no power without the help of Allah,” seventy times, seventy kinds of misfortunes will be diverted away from him, the least of which is al-Khanq .’ I (the narrator) then asked, ‘May Allah keep my soul in service for your cause, what is al-Khanq ?’ The Imam said, ‘He will not suffer from mental illness (insanity).”’
